SynchroLane 🎧🌀

Streamline your media curation. Extract, organize, and relisten to any online video content as pristine audio tracks — without the visual noise.

SynchroLane is not just another downloader. It’s a focused audio-archiving companion designed for people who want to capture the sound of the internet—lectures, podcasts, live sessions, rare interviews, algorithmic playlists—and turn them into a local, portable, searchable library. Think of it as a personal audio time capsule for the endless video stream.

📖 Overview

Every day, millions of hours of valuable audio content are locked inside video containers—hidden behind thumbnails, buffering, and ad breaks. SynchroLane liberates that sound. It treats YouTube and similar platforms as a global radio archive, letting you extract the audio layer with surgical precision.

Whether you’re compiling a study playlist from a full-length album, preserving a conference talk for offline listening, or building a mood-based collection from curated mix channels, SynchroLane handles the heavy lifting. It’s built for the listener, not the watcher.

⚙️ Core Capabilities

  • Audio-First Extraction – Strip video streams down to high-bitrate audio (MP3, FLAC, M4A, OGG). No transcoding guesswork.
  • Playlist & Album Mode – Feed it a full playlist or album URL; SynchroLane recursively fetches each track, preserves order, and tags metadata (artist, title, album art) where possible.
  • Smart Quality Selection – Automatically selects the best available audio stream (up to 320kbps or lossless) based on your preset preferences.
  • Batch Queuing – Queue multiple URLs, channels, or playlists. Process them sequentially or in parallel with configurable concurrency limits.
  • Metadata Enrichment – Embeds ID3 tags, cover art, and track numbers into every extracted file. Your offline library stays organized.
  • Dry-Run Mode – Preview which tracks will be extracted, their quality, and estimated file size before committing a download.
  • Tag & Filter – Exclude videos by duration, title keywords, or upload date. Only keep what matters to you.
  • Resume-Capable – Interrupted downloads (network drop, system sleep) resume from where they left off. No re-downloading.

🚀 Getting Started

Download

🔧 Prerequisites

  • A modern operating system (Windows 10+, macOS 12+, Linux kernel 5.x+)
  • Network access (for fetching source URLs)
  • Approximately 150MB of free disk space for the application and its dependencies (temporary cache will require additional space depending on queue size)

📦 Installation

  1. Acquire the bundle – Obtain the latest portable package for your platform from the authorized distribution channel (see the Download section).
  2. Extract and place – Unpack the archive into a permanent directory (e.g., ~/Applications/SynchroLane/ or C:\SynchroLane\).
  3. Review configuration – Open synchrolane.conf (auto-generated on first run) to set your preferred audio format, quality ceiling, and output path.
  4. Launch the agent – Run the executable. No installation wizard, no registry changes, no background services.

🧪 Usage Examples

Basic Single-Track Extraction

synchrolane --url "https://example.com/watch?v=abc123" --format flac

Extracts a single video as a high-fidelity FLAC file into the default output directory.

Full Playlist as Album

synchrolane --url "https://example.com/playlist?list=xyz789" --album-mode --embed-metadata

Recursively fetches every video in the playlist, numbers tracks sequentially, and embeds title/channel/album art as ID3v2 tags.

Quality-Constrained Batch

synchrolane --batch-file urls.txt --max-quality 192 --output-dir ~/Music/SynchroLane

Processes a text file containing one URL per line, limiting audio bitrate to 192kbps to save disk space.

🗂️ Feature Deep-Dive

Responsive Interface (Terminal & TUI)

SynchroLane ships with both a minimalist command-line interface and an optional terminal-based TUI (Text User Interface). The TUI adapts to window size, shows real-time progress bars for each item in the queue, and supports keyboard shortcuts for pause/resume/cancel operations.

Multilingual Metadata Handling

Extracted content from global sources rarely uses English-only metadata. SynchroLane preserves Unicode characters in filenames, ID3 tags, and playlist structures. It also correctly handles right-to-left scripts, CJK characters, and accented Latin glyphs without mangling.

24/7 Headless Operation

Once configured, SynchroLane can run as a detached background process. Queue up hundreds of URLs, close the terminal, and come back later—the extraction proceeds autonomously. Logs are written to synchrolane.log for post-hoc inspection.

Intelligent Throttling

Avoid overwhelming source servers or your own network. Synchrolane can limit concurrent downloads to a user-defined value (default: 2), add random delays between requests, and respect rate-limit headers when present.

Portable Offline Mode

After extraction, all files are standard audio containers. They play in any media player, on any device. SynchroLane does not enforce a proprietary format or a mandatory online activation.

📬 Final Notes

SynchroLane was born from a simple observation: the web’s greatest audio content is trapped behind a glass screen. This project is a small key that lets you listen, not watch—to roam the aether of online sound without the glare.

All usage timestamps, configuration, and logs are retained locally. No telemetry, no analytics, no phone-home features. Your listening habits remain yours.

Built with care, maintained with discretion, and released under the MIT license in 2026.
