Open SQL Tools 0.3.1
- Installation instructions for Windows and macOS, including how to open the unsigned macOS app the first time (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway)
- Open SQL Tools is supported on Windows and macOS only; Linux packages are no longer built
Open SQL Tools 0.3.0
- macOS: Apple Silicon disk image in the releases; on startup the app tells when a new version is out and Download opens its release page
- macOS: the menus move to the system menu bar (with About, Settings and Quit in the app menu, plus the standard Edit and Window menus), and the title bar drops the logo and the space reserved for the Windows window controls
- macOS: shortcuts show with the system symbols (⌘↩, ⇧⌘F…) in tooltips, menus, the shortcuts list and Preferences
Open SQL Tools 0.2.1
- Firebird 6: CHARACTER SET NONE and OCTETS columns no longer fail with "string right truncation" or "Malformed string" (table structure, DDL, dumps, host information and BLOB files)
Open SQL Tools 0.2.0
- Firebird text stored without a charset (CHARACTER SET NONE) shows its accents: each value is decoded as UTF-8 or the legacy code page its column uses (Windows-1252, DOS 850, Windows-1250/1251…), detected from the data, even when one column mixes them
- Edits, keys and typed SQL filters on those columns use the encoding the data is stored in, so accented text is found and saved correctly
- Query results from a single table can be edited like the Data tab (cells, inserts, deletes, BLOB import/export) when they include the table's key
- Value editor previews images and PDFs stored in BLOBs (also images kept in text BLOBs) and exports any value to a file
- Import a file into a BLOB from the value editor or the cell's context menu; binary values are sent as statement parameters, so large files fit
- Data tab loads large objects (BLOB, TEXT, bytea) on demand: tables with heavy BLOB columns open in a fraction of the time
- Firebird BLOBs are read in 64 KB requests instead of 1 KB, so queries returning BLOBs no longer stall the session
- Binary values show in the grid as their file type, e.g. (PNG), or (BLOB) when the type is unknown
- Value editor tabs are Preview, Hex and Text (the JSON view was removed); BLOBs of unknown type open on Hex
- Firebird text BLOB previews keep the column charset (accents no longer break in databases with charset NONE)
- The object tree starts with every category collapsed, Tables included
- The title bar no longer has the session, new tab, run and stop buttons (they stay in the menus, shortcuts and query toolbar)
Open SQL Tools 0.1.5

- Hover shows column types and keys; signature help for functions and procedures
- Warnings for unknown tables and columns while typing
- Right-click menu in SQL editors (run, clipboard, format)

Open SQL Tools 0.1.2
