AliceMate 1.0.0

Meet AliceMate 1.0.0. What began as Alice Companion has been rebuilt from the inside out: a new name, a fresh look, and a whole new way to use Alice across your Mac. This is our biggest update yet, and the first one we're proud to call version 1.

  • Alice now works in every app. Select any text and the new menu lets Alice explain, summarize, translate, or correct it.
  • Create your own prompts and choose which ones appear on the panel or in the ⋯ menu.
  • Tap the right Command key to talk to Alice. Your own shortcuts stay as they are.
  • When AliceMate is out of sight, voice starts in a new chat. A chat on screen continues.
  • The new screenshot button attaches a screen region to your draft.
  • Settings are redesigned, with a sidebar and a one-click update check.
  • Nothing to set up again: your sign-in, settings, and permissions carry over from Alice Companion.
  • Lists in selected-text answers now match chat and paste as lists. The file-drop outline matches the message field, and dropping images into the image editor works again.

Thank you for being with us from the start. Version 1 is only the beginning.

Alice Companion 0.1.1

  • Added independent shortcuts for voice conversation and message dictation. Conversation uses press-to-toggle; optional dictation supports toggle or hold-to-dictate, leaving recognized text in the draft for you to send.
  • Assign a standalone left or right Command, Option, Control, or Shift key by pressing and releasing it. Regular keyboard combinations remain available, and conflicting shortcuts are flagged in Settings.
  • Standalone modifier taps take effect on release. Hold-to-dictate starts after a short delay; another key, a mouse click, interrupted key events, or sleep cancels the gesture.
  • Redesigned Settings inside the desktop window, with separate voice controls and a return-to-chat action that preserves the conversation and draft.
  • Added macOS permission guides for the microphone, Input Monitoring, and Screen Recording. The latter two include a draggable app icon and a Finder shortcut to help add the running app to System Settings.
  • Moved microphone capture into the native app to address voice crackling, while preserving the website's voice controls and macOS permission checks.
  • Added direct Reload and Screenshot to chat toolbar actions. Region screenshots attach to the current draft without sending it; failed attachments remain available for retry or saving.
  • Refined the compact chat layout, typography, history navigation, file-drop overlay, and window toolbar.
  • Fixed returning an expanded companion chat to the sidebar and toggling it from the main window.
