Claude Code is struggling with the MCP

Claude code is able to use the NotionAPI just fine, but it has many limitations to my understanding (and Claude's). This includes not being able to bulk create entries in databases, which is painful to do one by one, for tasks for example. Also the character limits.

The NotionMCP to my understanding support better functionality and it works for some calls, but not the one for creating entries in a database for some reason.

Claude tried many times and it still not working. I understand models have a way to go to be able to better use MCPs/tools, but most of the MCPs I'm using work fine overall.

Is this a known issue or is there an issue on my end?

I have the same issue. Claude Code was unable to write blocks I believe. Not able to use this until a fix is implemented sadly.

Hopefully Notion gives this some love. It will be very helpful when it's working properly and seamlessly. With Notion's resources, this should be straightforward.

Notion is aware of this issue. They've stated it here:

We're aware of ongoing issues impacting Claude Desktop with Notion MCP, where most operations return "invalid argument" errors, due to incorrect tool parameter shape. We've informed Anthropic, and they are investigating.

Otherwise, to avoid excessive context token consumption, we recommend trying Notion MCP with other AI agent tools such as Cursor or ChatGPT if you have access to them.

afaik Anthropic team had a fix for this last week and it works in Claude Desktop for me. Please use a different LLM model or redirect question to Claude

@mquan it's still quite spotty. tested today with 2 out of 5 test runs failed. test runs are identical in steps.

Anthropic made a big fuss with their Connections, I guess more people are reporting Notion issue, making this a bigger fire at their bottom.
