v0.3.2 — live limits, and a much lighter app
Your limits now move as you work, and claudget uses about a fifth of the memory it did.
Added
- Live limits. Between Anthropic's checks (at most every 3 minutes), the 5-hour and weekly % are estimated from your local usage and shown as "~63%" in a dimmer ink, in the menu bar, popover, dashboard, pill and floating bar. Anthropic's next reading always replaces the estimate. It errs low, and it can't see usage on other devices or claude.ai.
- Choose what the pill shows: Settings → General → Pill shows. 5-hour (the new default), weekly, or whichever is higher.
Changed
- About a fifth of the memory. Left running in the menu bar, claudget used 1.1–1.6 GB. It now stays around 250 MB.
- The popover opens where you are. Clicking the menu-bar item no longer switches Spaces or pulls you out of a full-screen app.
- Usage updates in about a third of a second, down from 1–3 seconds. Plan limits are re-checked when you open the popover, wake your Mac, or start working again, and the tooltip says how old they are.
- The pill follows the pointer more closely while you drag it.
- Idle CPU is about 0.1%, down from about 4%.
Windows
- The first launch opens the dashboard and explains where the icon lives, including the ^ next to the clock on Windows 11.
- Ctrl shortcuts work and are labelled as Ctrl. The tray icon is sharper. The pill and floating bar stay off the taskbar and no longer overlap.
Linux
- The AppImage starts on Ubuntu 24.04. It no longer needs
libfuse2, and it only turns off Chromium's sandbox when the system blocks it. - New
.debpackage, which keeps the sandbox on. Recommended on Ubuntu:sudo apt install ./claudget-0.3.2-amd64.deb - The right-click tray menu works, and the popover opens next to the tray. There are no black boxes without a compositor. Without a system tray (stock GNOME), the dashboard opens instead.
Fixed
- A transcript replaced at the same path is re-read from the start.

Unsure which Mac? Take Universal. claudget.vercel.app picks for you when it can tell.
Auto-update handles this for existing Windows installer and Linux AppImage installs. On macOS, or with the portable .exe, download the new version and replace the app.
v0.3.1 — a steadier floating pill
The floating pill no longer crashes, sticks to the cursor, or wanders off after you drop it.
Fixed
- Dragging the pill could crash the app. Dragging it against the top or left edge of a screen showed an "Error processing argument at index 1" dialog over and over. Positions are now cleaned up before the window moves, and a move that still fails is logged and ends the drag. (#14)
- The pill could stick to the cursor or move on its own. A drag now ends however you let go, even outside the pill or when the window loses focus. The pill stays exactly where you drop it, and keeps that place after a restart. (#15)
- Activity shows the last 24 hours. The chart under "Last 24 hours" showed every hour of history; it now shows exactly 24 bars.
Changed
- Linux: the AppImage is built with gzip instead of xz, so the AppImage catalog can read it, and its program, icon and launcher entry are named
claudget. It's about 25 MB larger.

v0.3.0 — now in your menu bar
claudget now lives in your menu bar. Both limits sit next to the clock, and a click shows when each one resets and when you'll run out at your current pace.
Changed
- Menu bar, not a floating window. On macOS both limits show as
62% · 31%next to the clock; on Windows and Linux it's a tray icon. Click it for a popover with both limits, today's tokens and rate, the last 24 hours, and your heaviest sessions. - Each limit shows when you'll run out. A tick on the bar marks how much of the window has passed. When your usage is ahead of it, the row shows the time you'll hit the limit ("Full by 4:01 PM").
- Plan limits are on by default. They come from Anthropic's usage endpoint, using the login Claude Code already stored. Turn off Track plan limits in Settings to stay fully local.
Added
- Limit alerts at 80% and 95%, once per window. Pick your own thresholds in Settings → Alerts.
- Floating pill: one line above your windows showing the limit closest to running out. Its outline turns amber, then red, as you get close.
- Floating bar: a resizable strip with both limits and today's activity that stays on top beside your editor.
- Dashboard: Overview, Activity, Sessions and Insights, including how close each recent 5-hour and weekly window came to its limit. It's a normal window now; turn on Keep on top in Settings to make it float.
- Settings in its own window, a short welcome card on first launch, and a new icon and design.

Auto-update handles this for existing Windows and Linux installs. On macOS, download the new version and replace the app in Applications.
The version numbers line up again: 0.2.5.1 shipped as app version 0.2.6, because Electron needs three-part versions. This release is 0.3.0 everywhere.
v0.2.5.1 — improved session names
Fixed
- Recent session rows now use the real working-directory name from Claude Code transcripts, including project names with hyphens.
- Each session shows a short summary of the first meaningful request, with the Git branch as a fallback.
- Full session path, branch, and request details remain available in the row tooltip.
0.2.5 — plan limits explain themselves
Signing out of Claude Code used to produce a bare "No Claude credentials found." — which read as though the whole widget had stopped working.
Fixed
The plan-usage panel now tells you three things instead of one:
- what happened — in plain language
- what fixes it — the one command, click to copy
- what still works — tokens, cost and burn rate are unaffected. They're read from your local transcripts and need no login at all, so a signed-out CLI only stops the plan-limit half.
That last part is the point. Nothing about your local usage tracking breaks when you sign out.
Causes are now told apart
They previously all reported the same thing, despite needing different responses from you:
| what you see | what happened | what to do |
|---|---|---|
| Signed out | Claude Code holds no login | run claude |
| Blocked | macOS denied the Keychain prompt | allow access — signing in again won't help |
| Not found | no Claude directory | check the Claude directory in Settings |
| Expired | token lapsed | run claude — it says whether it can refresh itself |
| Rejected | Anthropic refused the stored login | run claude |
| Offline | couldn't reach Anthropic | nothing — it retries |
Status badges name the state rather than showing a uniform "Unavailable", and each panel carries the specific detail — which path was checked, which HTTP status came back.

Unsure which Mac? Take Universal. claudget.vercel.app picks for you when it can tell.
Auto-update handles this for existing Windows and Linux installs.
macOS first launch — the build is unsigned, so Gatekeeper blocks it once. Drag to Applications, then:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/claudget.app
Windows: SmartScreen → "More info" → "Run anyway". Linux: chmod +x and run.

0.2.4 — half the size on disk
claudget takes roughly half the disk space it used to. No functional changes — this is entirely about what gets shipped.
installed 486 MB -> 233 MB
download 205 MB -> 94 MB
What was actually big
app.asar was 6 MB of a 279 MB install — 2% — so none of the weight was the app's own code. Two things were:
- ~220 Chromium locale bundles (47 MB) for a UI that only exists in English. 218 of them could never be read.
- The macOS build was universal, which puts two copies of the Electron framework on disk: 371 MB of binary instead of 180 MB, when your Mac can only ever execute one of them.
macOS now has three downloads
| build | size | for |
|---|---|---|
claudget-0.2.4-arm64.dmg |
94 MB | M1 and later |
claudget-0.2.4-x64.dmg |
95 MB | Intel Macs (pre-2020) |
claudget-0.2.4-universal.dmg |
176 MB | any Mac |
The per-arch builds are about half the size. Universal works on any Mac and is still the default — macOS reports Apple Silicon machines as "Intel Mac OS X", so the right build can't always be detected, and claudget.vercel.app only picks one for you when it can prove which it is. If you're unsure, take Universal.

0.2.3 — macOS reliability
Fixes the two bugs behind "not working at all on the latest macOS version — behaves pretty incoherent, becomes unresponsive very fast."
Fixed
- Live updates no longer stall while you work. The transcript watcher waited for the file to go quiet before reporting a change — and an active Claude Code session appends a line every ~250ms, so it never went quiet. The widget delivered zero updates for the entire session and only caught up on the 2-minute rescan, which is also why the numbers appeared to jump around. Measured over a 10s session: 0 updates before, 9 after.
- Settings no longer freeze the app on macOS 26. Every config change re-ran the whole apply path — a ~9ms privileged
setLoginItemSettingscall, a tray-menu rebuild, a re-assert of every native window flag, and a full usage-snapshot rebuild pushed over IPC. Dragging the opacity slider fires ~30–60 changes/second, which saturated the main process and beachballed the window. Now 11.5ms → 0.3ms per change, with peak event-loop lag down from 51ms to 0. - Dropped a pointless privileged call on every launch that only logged
Operation not permittedon macOS 26.
