This is a Next.js project bootstrapped with create-next-app.

Getting Started

First, run the development server:

npm run dev
# or
yarn dev
# or
pnpm dev
# or
bun dev

Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.

You can start editing the page by modifying app/page.tsx. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.

This project uses next/font to automatically optimize and load Geist, a new font family for Vercel.

Environment Variables

Create a .env.local file in the root directory with the following variables:

# Better Auth Configuration
# For local development
BETTER_AUTH_URL=http://localhost:3000
NEXT_PUBLIC_BETTER_AUTH_URL=http://localhost:3000

# Google OAuth Redirect URI (optional - auto-generated from BETTER_AUTH_URL if not provided)
GOOGLE_REDIRECT_URI=http://localhost:3000/api/auth/callback/google

# Better Auth Secret (generate a random string)
BETTER_AUTH_SECRET=your-secret-key-here

# Google OAuth Credentials
GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID=your-google-client-id

DATABASE_URL=your-database-url

For Vercel Deployment

1. Go to your Vercel project dashboard

2. Navigate to Settings → Environment Variables

3. Add the following variables for Production, Preview, and Development environments:

   • BETTER_AUTH_URL: Your production URL (e.g., https://your-app.vercel.app)
   • NEXT_PUBLIC_BETTER_AUTH_URL: Same as above (required for client-side)
   • GOOGLE_REDIRECT_URI: Your production callback URL (e.g., https://your-app.vercel.app/api/auth/callback/google)
   • BETTER_AUTH_SECRET: Your secret key
   • GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID: Your Google OAuth client ID
   • GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET: Your Google OAuth client secret
   • DATABASE_URL: Your database connection string

Note: Set different values for Production and Preview/Development environments as needed. The app will automatically use the correct values based on the deployment environment.

The easiest way to deploy your Next.js app is to use the Vercel Platform from the creators of Next.js.
