Miblo 1.15.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Oct 04:02

How to update

Run /miblo:update: accept the plugin update, type /reload-plugins, then let it update the gadget (type the code it shows). If you have other Claude Code windows open, type /reload-plugins in each of them too (or restart them): windows still on the old plugin can't talk to the new one.

New to Miblo? Install everything in one step: download Install-Miblo-macOS.zip below and double-click Install Miblo.command, or paste curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/marcus-campos/miblo/main/install.sh | sh (Windows: irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/marcus-campos/miblo/main/install.ps1 | iex). It installs the plugin, finds your Miblo on the Wi-Fi and asks for the code on its screen.

Going back to an older version later keeps your settings.

New in 1.15.0

  • Type http://miblo.local in your browser to reach your Miblo without remembering its address. Alone on the network, it opens your Miblo's settings straight away. With several Miblos, it lists them all, the ones you opened recently first, with a short guide to Miblo and its commands for newcomers.
  • Sessions show their title on the gadget, the same one the Claude desktop app lists, instead of the folder name.
  • Closed sessions leave the gadget. Closing a terminal no longer leaves its sessions on screen for hours, on Windows too.
  • After pairing, Miblo offers to open the settings page, and reminds you that /miblo:settings (or just asking Claude) opens it any time.
  • Several Miblos can be updated at the same time, each with its own code.

Faster and steadier

  • About twice as many requests per second as 1.12 under load, and no more stalls when many connections arrive at once.
  • A short memory dip after a burst of connections no longer restarts a gadget that is working.
  • Wrong pairing codes now always wait out their lockout (it could be skipped before).
  • The pairing code, focus, meeting, notes and timers no longer end early by mistake.
  • The Windows installer works when the plugin had been installed for a single project, and shows its messages correctly.

Already in 1.14

Pick your pet

Fifteen original pets, each with its own personality in pet mode: the cat, a rubber duck (for rubber duck debugging), a bug, a little daemon ghost, a robot, a coffee mug, a penguin, a crab, a night-coder owl, a shiba dog, a one-eyed alien, Riff the punk rocker (air guitar when a long task finishes), Dev, a ponytailed veteran programmer, Dino and Dev-chan.

  • Choose it in the settings page's new Pet card and press Show on Miblo to preview it on the screen for a few seconds before saving.
  • Colour every part separately (body, outline, inner detail, nose or beak, face lines, eyes and accent): leave a part on Auto or pick any colour. The presets fill them all in one click, and the default stays the Miblo look you know.
  • Eyes can be round, big and shiny, or sleepy.
  • 20 accessories to dress your pet: hats, glasses, scarves, a bow tie and more (one on the head, one on the face, one at the neck). The yearly occasion hats (Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day and others) can stay on or be turned off.
  • The pet you chose shows on the logo screen, and a visiting Miblo arrives exactly as its owner dressed it: its own pet, colours, eyes, accessories and occasion hat.

Works in the Claude desktop app and your IDE

  • Miblo now works in the Claude desktop app (Code tab), the VS Code / Cursor / JetBrains extensions and the terminal, with nothing else to install: it finds Node.js on your computer or downloads the official one once (checked against its published fingerprint). If that's not possible, /miblo:pair offers to install it for you.
  • When Claude Code drives Chrome, the session shows "browsing".
  • Not supported, because they don't run on your computer: cloud sessions (claude.ai/code), the desktop app's regular Chat, and Claude inside GitHub Copilot.

Reliability

  • The settings page no longer arrives broken when a Wi-Fi packet has to be resent.
  • When the gadget is short of memory it answers "busy" at once and the plugin retries; it keeps memory in reserve for Wi-Fi under heavy traffic and recovers on its own.
  • A short Wi-Fi outage no longer opens the setup network: it opens only after 5 minutes without your network (or right away if the saved network never connected).
  • If the Wi-Fi stops passing data while the gadget still looks connected, it notices within a few minutes and reconnects by itself (and restarts as a last resort), so it no longer needs to be unplugged.

Security

  • Requests with a malformed length are refused before they are read, so they can no longer stall the gadget.
  • Web pages you visit can no longer send requests to your Miblo (DNS rebinding); the plugin keeps working even through a custom network name. In the browser, open the settings page by the Miblo's IP address or http://miblo-xxxx.local/ (/miblo:settings does this for you); other names set up in a router now show a page with the right link.
  • Guessing a 4-digit code now takes years instead of weeks, and each code (pairing, settings, update, reset, Wi-Fi) has its own lock, so nobody can lock you out of everything.
  • Before following a gadget to a new network address, the plugin checks it really is your Miblo (a signed answer that includes the gadget's own address), so your pairing token is never handed to an impostor.
  • The local bridge proves itself before the plugin sends it anything, and every request to it is signed, so another user on a shared computer can't read your sessions.
  • The Node.js launcher ignores programs planted in the folder you open and only runs a verified runtime.
  • The settings page sends strict browser security headers, settings are written to flash at a gentle pace, and text from the gadget is cleaned before Claude Code shows it.

It installs the plugin, finds your Miblo on the Wi-Fi and asks for the code on its screen.

Going back to 1.12 later keeps your settings; the pet goes back to the cat.

Fixed in 1.14.1

  • 1.14.0 could freeze and restart under many connections at once while short of memory (it tried to answer each one, which needs memory too). It now behaves as 1.12.0 did there.
  • The Windows installer failed with "not installed at scope user" when the plugin had been installed for a single project: it now installs it for your user, so Miblo works in every folder. Its messages also show their symbols correctly.

v1.12.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 19:20

How to update

Run /miblo:update: accept the plugin update, type /reload-plugins, then let it update the gadget (type the code it shows).

Going back to 1.11 later keeps every setting; on 1.11 a break or water interval that 1.11 does not offer shows as the nearest one it has (60, 90 or 120 min).

New

  • Wellness, your way: break after any time from 15 to 240 minutes, with the break length you choose (1–30 min); water every 15 to 240 minutes; eye rest every 10 to 60 minutes, for 10 to 60 seconds. Existing settings stay exactly as they were.

Reliability and security

  • A device on your network that opens connections and sends only part of a request can no longer freeze the Miblo. Before, a few dozen such connections stopped the screen, alerts and settings for minutes and could restart it; now they are dropped while everything else keeps answering at once.
  • Large requests from anything but your paired computers are refused before they are read.
  • Requests are answered as soon as they have fully arrived, and the Claude Code bridge's updates are never dropped while other clients are connected.

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 15:43

How to update

Run /miblo:update: accept the plugin update, type /reload-plugins, then let it update the gadget (type the code it shows).

Going back to an older firmware later keeps your settings in almost every case; only a configuration that uses nearly every new option at its longest may be reset.

New: Miblo in your day

  • Focus (Pomodoro) — /miblo:focus (25/5 ×4 by default, or /miblo:focus 50). A progress ring, the cat with headphones, and "focused until 15:30" readable from across the room. Breaks run on their own. "Needs you" alerts still come through, while "finished" waits for the break.
  • Healthy breaks (off by default, in the settings page's Wellness section): a break after long stretches of work, a water reminder during work hours, and the 20-20-20 eye rest.
  • End of day and weekly recap: at the time you choose, a summary of your day. On Monday morning, a summary of last week.
  • Notes, reminders and alarms: /miblo:say "back in 10 min" shows a note on the screen. /miblo:remind 15 "call the client", /miblo:remind 16:30 "daily" and recurring alarms (every day / weekdays) are kept on the gadget. Also /miblo:timer 10, /miblo:countdown "release" 15/10 and /miblo:find (the Miblo blinks, waves and shows a QR code for its settings).
  • Meeting mode: /miblo:meeting 30 hides project, tool and command names on every screen, blinks only once, and puts a tie on the cat.
  • /miblo:today, /miblo:limits and /miblo:blue in the terminal.
  • No sound needed: strong visual cues (slow full-screen pulses, an optional status frame) work in your peripheral vision. An amber mark stays over any screen while a session waits for you. Alerts insist more on long waits, and a long task ends with a little party.
  • On the main screens: a forecast of when the 5-hour limit runs out at your current pace, the elapsed time of a long command, and an optional second time zone.
  • Global occasions: Valentine's Day, Easter, Programmer's Day, and a black cat on Friday the 13th. The cat's mood also follows your day, subtly.
  • Settings page: a Wellness section; Paired computers in their own card (rename, remove, "this computer"); storage shown as Program and Data; and a continuous slider for the blue light filter.

Reliability and security

  • Permission prompts from agents and from auto mode now always show on the Miblo. Future prompt types are recognised too.
  • A "needs you" alert is never lost or repeated, however many sessions wait at once and with any number of paired computers.
  • Time zones: the computer now gives the Miblo its current offset and the next clock change, so new rules reach the gadget without a firmware update. The built-in table was refreshed too.
  • Fixed a stack overflow on /api/info, and a crash a malformed upload request could cause on the local network.
  • Fixed two fonts reading past their end, reminders and alarms that could fire twice or come back after 49 days, and "at HH:MM" reminders being off by an hour after a daylight-saving change.
  • Settings and pairings are saved atomically and retried if a save fails. Pairing or removing a computer is saved before the gadget answers, so a power cut can't bring a removed computer back.
  • After updating the plugin, the gadget switches to it at once in every open session.
  • Uses about 1 KB less RAM than 1.10.1, with all of the above. Compressed fonts and text keep the program small: it grew by only 18 KB.

v1.10.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 02:30

How to update

Run /miblo:update: accept the plugin update, type /reload-plugins, then let it update the gadget.

New

  • Paired computers on the settings page. Under Advanced, see every computer paired with the Miblo (up to 4), when each was last active, and remove one with a tap. A removed computer stops updating the Miblo until it is paired again with /miblo:pair. Opened with /miblo:settings, the page marks the computer you are on.

Improved

  • System panel graphs show percentages: guide lines at 25, 50 and 75 %, the scale on the side, and the current value in the corner.
  • RAM and storage say what is free: "66% in use · 27 KB free of 80 KB". Storage covers the whole 4 MB flash chip, with the firmware and data sizes under it.
  • Bigger icons on the pet mode sign: the clock (5-hour session) and the calendar (week) are larger and easier to read from across the desk.

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 01:50

How to update

Run /miblo:update: accept the plugin update, type /reload-plugins, then let it update the gadget.

New

  • System panel on the settings page. Open Advanced to see how the gadget is doing, live:

    • Processing: a graph of the last minute of processing load, updated every second, with the current percentage and clock speed.
    • Memory (RAM): a graph of the last minute of RAM in use, out of the ESP8266's 80 KB.
    • Storage: the data in use, the firmware size and the room left for updates.

    The readings happen only while the panel is open. The last minute lives in the page and goes away when you close it. On a paired gadget, the panel shows only after the code on the screen unlocks the page.

Full Changelog: v1.9.2...v1.10.0

v1.9.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 01:39

How to update

Run /miblo:update: accept the plugin update, type /reload-plugins, then let it update the gadget.

Fixes

  • The limits on the pet mode sign are easier to read. "5h 82%" read as one run of digits, and the two windows were easy to mix up. Now a little clock marks the 5-hour session and a calendar marks the week, each followed by its percentage in bold, amber past 80% and red past 95%. The sign keeps its size, and it reads the same in every language.
  • The reset time and the "finished 2m ago" line on the sign are brighter.
  • With the computer away, the crossed-out laptop on the sign now shows its outline, not just an amber stroke.
  • The "LGTM" stamp covered a line of the sign and looked like a glitch. In its place the cat now waves at you.
  • /miblo:demo now ends as soon as Claude Code starts new work, as pet mode does, instead of holding for its full 10 minutes.

Full Changelog: v1.9.1...v1.9.2

v1.9.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 22:36

How to update

Run /miblo:update, accept the plugin update and type /reload-plugins. From 1.9.1 on, that is all: the plugin you just installed takes over at the next thing Claude Code does, in every open session, without starting a new one.

Fixes

  • After a plugin update, the gadget kept being driven by the previous plugin version until a new Claude Code session started, so fixes in the new plugin (like 1.9.0's "waiting on a task" fix) did not apply to the sessions already open. Now the new plugin takes over at its first event.

The firmware is the same as 1.9.0 apart from the version number: updating the gadget is optional.

Full Changelog: v1.9.0...v1.9.1

v1.9.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Oct 22:01

How to update (read this first)

  1. Run /miblo:update in Claude Code and accept the plugin update.
  2. Type /reload-plugins.
  3. Run /miblo:update again to update the gadget.

If you update the gadget with the previous plugin (1.8.0), it may end with "did not come back with 1.9.0". The update worked: the gadget's boot screen shows v1.9.0. This happens because a paired Miblo now tells its version only to the computers paired with it, and the old plugin doesn't ask that way. After /reload-plugins everything reads normally again.

New

  • Pet mode has 30 antics. One every 30 seconds, never the same one twice in a row. For 21 of them the mascot puts its sign down at the bottom of the screen first, so the clock, limits and last task stay readable while it plays: a laptop and a bug, chasing its tail, a ball of yarn, a cardboard box, a little keyboard, soap bubbles, a fish bowl, a deploy button, a cucumber, and more.
  • Choose when pet mode starts. From 1 minute to 1 hour (15 minutes by default) on the settings page. The screen never turns off before pet mode has had its turn.
  • Pet mode keeps playing while the computer is away. A small crossed-out laptop in the corner of the sign shows that the computer is not connected.
  • 37 activities for visits between Miblos. 30 new ones, among them a high five, ping-pong, pizza, a release cake, a merge conflict tug of war, chess, a hotfix, all tests green, a 404 hunt, and fishing. Each has its own line in all 9 languages and works with 1 to 3 guests.
  • Blue light filter. Off, always on, or on its own schedule, separate from night dimming, at three strengths (4500 K, 3500 K and 2700 K). Everything on the screen is filtered alike.

Security and privacy

  • A paired Miblo now tells the network only its id: its name, version and settings are for the computers paired with it.
  • On a paired Miblo, the settings page asks for the code shown on the gadget before it shows anything.
  • If a configured Miblo opens its setup network (for example after losing Wi-Fi), joining another network needs the code on the screen. A factory-reset Miblo sets up without one, as before.
  • A code on the screen is never replaced by another request while you are typing it.
  • Visits only let in the Miblos the host invited (4 cats at most), and a Miblo that floods the network is ignored for a while.

Fixes

  • Group visits showed the props of the original activities half cut off.
  • With several cats on screen, some prop colours came out wrong.
  • In a group of four, the last Miblo was sometimes never invited.
  • Pet mode could fail to start, or the screen could stay on, after a short network drop or a "limit freed" message.
  • Friends no longer visit a Miblo whose screen is off.
  • The gadget no longer shows a session as "waiting on a task" after Claude finished, when a watcher (such as a published artifact's live updates) is still open.
  • The kite line in Chinese now says "kite".
  • Uses about 1.3 KB less RAM than 1.8.0.
