v7.0.0 - Breaking Changes Release
⚠️ BREAKING CHANGES
This release consolidates breaking changes that were introduced incrementally in v6.9.0-v6.11.1. We're bumping to v7.0.0 to properly reflect the architectural changes.
Preview Phase Removed (from v6.9.0)
- Removed:
/previewcommand archived topreview.md.deprecated - Impact: All UI/UX testing now happens in staging environment only
- Migration: Update workflows to test in staging instead of locally
- Rationale: Staging provides production-like validation; local preview was redundant
Workflow State Schema Changes (from v6.9.0)
- Removed:
previewphase from workflow-state.yaml schema - Removed:
manual_gates.previewsection - Impact: Existing features may need workflow-state.yaml migration
- Migration: Remove
previewphase references from existing feature specs
Ship-Prod Version Selection (from v6.9.0)
- Changed:
/ship-prodno longer prompts for version interactively - New Behavior: Defaults to patch bump (most common use case)
- Override: Use `--version major|minor` flag to override default
- Rationale: 90% of deployments are patch bumps; interactive prompt slowed workflow
🐛 Fixed
CLI Update Command Confirmation (v7.0.0)
- Fixed missing confirmation output when running `npx spec-flow update`
- Update function now returns `conflictActions` and `backupPaths` for display
- Removed duplicate success messages between install.js and cli.js
- Added file update summary to show which templates were updated
Release Script (from v6.11.1)
- Fixed bash eval error from nested command substitution
Feature Continue Mode (from v6.11.0)
- Implemented `/feature continue` command to resume most recent feature
- Cross-platform compatible (Linux, macOS, Windows/Git Bash)
✨ Added
CLI Workflow Installation (from v6.11.0)
- GitHub workflows now install automatically via `npx spec-flow init` and `npx spec-flow update`
- Uses same conflict resolution strategy as other files (merge by default)
- Respects `--strategy` flag (merge|backup|skip|force)
Auto-Install GitHub Workflows (from v6.10.0)
- Postinstall script now automatically copies GitHub Actions workflows
- Interactive confirmation using inquirer
- Preserves user customizations (never overwrites existing files)
GitHub Actions Auto-Fix CI (from v6.9.0)
- New workflow `.github/workflows/auto-fix-ci.yml` automatically fixes lint/format issues on PR creation
Docker Build Validation (from v6.9.0)
- Added Docker build check to `/optimize` command (6th parallel check)
- Validates Dockerfile builds successfully before deployment
🚀 Changed
Streamlined Ship Orchestration (from v6.9.0)
- Reduced deployment time by 60% (25-35 min vs 65-165 min)
- Removed `/preview` manual gate (all testing now in staging)
- Removed interactive version selection from `/ship-prod`
- Parallelized pre-flight + optimize checks (saves ~10 min)
Platform API-Based Deployment IDs (from v6.9.0)
