FlameRobin 26.8.1 Release Notes

We are pleased to announce the release of FlameRobin version 26.8.1. This maintenance release delivers critical fixes for Firebird SQL DDL privilege generation, thread-safe service log streaming, full removal of legacy IBPP code in favor of fb-cpp DAL, and cross-platform build system enhancements for MSVC, Linux Snapcraft, Flatpak, and vcpkg.

🚀 Key Improvements & Bug Fixes

1. Firebird DDL Privilege Generation Fix (#671)

  • Keyword Formatting for Object Privileges: Resolved an issue where generating DDL for privileges on Generators (Sequences), Domains, and Exceptions omitted the required object type keyword after ON (e.g. generating GRANT USAGE ON CUST_NO_GEN2... instead of GRANT USAGE ON SEQUENCE CUST_NO_GEN2...). This caused Firebird's SQL parser to fail with -104: Token unknown.
  • Standardized SQL Generation: Privilege::getSql() now explicitly formats SEQUENCE , DOMAIN , and EXCEPTION prefixes matching Firebird standard DDL grammar.
  • Test Suite Expansion: Added unit test suite PrivilegeTest to automatically validate GRANT DDL formatting across database object types.

2. Verbose Service Log Streaming & Truncation Fix (#672)

  • Real-time Log Synchronization: Fixed an issue in FbCppService::getNextLine() where long-running Firebird service operations (e.g., Database Backup, Restore, Validation/Repair, and Statistics gstat) prematurely truncated output logs when the output queue became transiently empty while the background worker thread was still processing.
  • Thread-Safe Queue Wait: Implemented std::condition_variable synchronization to block and wait for incoming log buffer lines until the service thread completes and explicitly pushes EOF.
  • Text Control Styling Fix: Corrected off-by-one styling offset calculations in LogTextControl::addStyledText() to ensure clean log presentation.

3. Complete IBPP Removal & Full Migration to fb-cpp DAL

  • Legacy Code Cleanup: Completely removed legacy IBPP library source files from the codebase and fully migrated all database engine, transaction, blob, statement, and service operations to the modern fb-cpp Data Access Layer.
  • DAL Submodule Upgrade: Updated fb-cpp submodule and vcpkg overlay port to release v0.0.5.

4. Cross-Platform Build System & Platform Compatibility

  • MSVC 128-bit Integer Support: Added full operator and constructor compatibility for 128-bit integers (int128_t) on MSVC compilers, and updated field access for non-HAVE_INT128 platforms in FbCppStatement.
  • Snapcraft Package Dependencies: Updated snapcraft.yaml with vcpkg integration, adding build dependencies (autotools, bison, flex, python3-venv for libsystemd).
  • Flatpak & Snap Dependency Optimization: Disabled the Boost.Decimal component requirement for Flatpak and Snap package builds.
  • Dialog UX Consistency: Fixed dialog closing behavior on dialogs utilizing wxCLOSE button sizers.
  • Vcpkg Dependency Update: Updated vcpkg submodule reference to release tag 2026.07.29.
