SoundGate 1.0.9

  • A volume indicator that feels native — it now appears exactly where macOS shows its own: at the right edge of the screen, just under the menu bar, styled like Control Center's Sound control (clear Liquid Glass, white title and level slider).
  • Steady while you press — the indicator fades in place and stays put as you keep pressing the volume keys, instead of sliding or disappearing mid-fade.

Download SoundGate.dmg, open it, and double-click Install SoundGate — or use Check Now in SoundGate. Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple silicon; signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

SoundGate 1.0.8

  • A volume indicator that looks like macOS — when your volume keys change the monitor's speakers, SoundGate now shows a Liquid Glass card under the right end of the menu bar, just like the system's own: the device name and a level slider, the way Control Center shows Sound. (Before macOS 26 it uses the frosted look.)

Download SoundGate.dmg, open it, and double-click Install SoundGate — or use Check Now in SoundGate. Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple silicon; signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

SoundGate 1.0.7

  • Quick switching is back in the menu bar — Input Priority and Output Priority return to the menu bar panel: click a device to switch to it.
  • Sturdier volume keys — if SoundGate ever loses its connection to your monitor, it reconnects as soon as you press a volume key, and it notes why a key went to macOS instead (useful if you report a problem).

Download SoundGate.dmg, open it, and double-click Install SoundGate — or use Check Now in SoundGate. Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple silicon; signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

SoundGate 1.0.6

@markhydar-code markhydar-code released this 14 Oct 20:09

SoundGate 1.0.6

  • A lighter menu bar panel — the panel now holds just what you use every day: output and volume, each app's volume, input, EQ preset and spatial audio. Priorities, device profiles, sync and appearance live in Open in Window (new, next to the title). The panel also fits shorter screens like a MacBook's, scrolling if it ever needs to.
  • Open EQ… and Open in Window close the menu bar panel and take you straight to the right page.
  • Sync fixes — presets saved on two Macs now both survive and deletions carry over (before, one Mac's preset list could win and the other's presets never arrived). Sync shows which Macs share your folder, and turning it on joins a folder that already has your settings.
  • Troubleshooting checks Sync — it spots a missing cloud folder, a cloud app that isn't running, failed syncs, or no other Mac syncing.
  • Polish and accessibility — consistent section headers, larger click targets, shorter device-profile rows, and VoiceOver now names every icon button (e.g. "Save as Preset", "Mute Microsoft Edge").

Download SoundGate.dmg, open it, and double-click Install SoundGate — or use Check Now in SoundGate. Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple silicon; signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

SoundGate 1.0.5

  • Tidier settings — Output Volume, Input Priority, Output Priority, Device Profiles and Sync can now be folded away. A folded section shows a one-line summary (like the device that's playing and its volume), and SoundGate remembers which ones you leave open.
  • Clearer order — Input Priority now comes first, then Output Priority, then Device Profiles.
  • Sync's help now describes what it carries: your custom EQ profiles, saved presets and each device's sound.

Download SoundGate.dmg, open it, and double-click Install SoundGate — or use Check Now in SoundGate. Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple silicon; signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

SoundGate 1.0.4

  • See where your settings sync to — Devices & Settings → Sync now shows exactly where your settings file is saved (for example iCloud Drive › SoundGate › SoundGate Settings.plist), with a Show in Finder button.
  • Only one SoundGate at a time — if a second copy of SoundGate starts (for example an older version still running during an update), the copy in your Applications folder takes over and the other quits, so they no longer both react to the volume keys or fight over your output.

Download SoundGate.dmg, open it, and double-click Install SoundGate — or use Check Now in SoundGate. Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple silicon; signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

SoundGate 1.0.3

  • Sync between Macs — new in Devices & Settings → Sync. Keep your saved EQ presets, hearing test results and each device's sound the same on all your Macs, through iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or any folder your cloud app syncs. Turn on Also sync all settings to include priorities, per-app volumes and appearance. SoundGate keeps one small file in the folder you choose — nothing is sent to SoundGate's developer.

Download SoundGate.dmg, open it, and double-click Install SoundGate — or use Check Now in SoundGate. Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple silicon; signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

SoundGate 1.0.2

  • Troubleshooting — new in Devices & Settings → About. SoundGate checks itself (volume keys, monitor volume, sound output, app sound permission, head tracking, menu bar, updates), explains anything that's wrong in plain language, and takes you straight to the right System Settings page.
  • AirPods stay where you put them — SoundGate no longer pulls AirPods (or other Bluetooth headphones) back to your Mac while your iPhone or iPad is using them. It uses them whenever your Mac connects to them.

Download SoundGate.dmg, open it, and double-click Install SoundGate — or use Check Now in SoundGate. Requires macOS 14.2+ on Apple silicon; signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

New

  • Updates — SoundGate checks for new versions about once a day and shows a notice in the menu bar panel; install with one click. Optional Install updates automatically. Every update is verified to be signed by SoundGate's developer and notarized by Apple before it's installed. Turn checks off any time under Devices & Settings → About.
  • About — version and build, plus links to the website, release notes and Report a Problem.

Note for 1.0.0 users

1.0.0 can't update itself, so install 1.0.1 from the website once. After that, SoundGate keeps itself up to date.

Requires macOS 14.2 or later on Apple silicon. Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
