Add button
The behavior of the "Add" button has been changed. Now, when you click on it, three add buttons pop up: web, file, and folder.
- The Web button opens a new editing window where you can enter the URL and name. The icon will be pulled up automatically if the site is available and has an icon.
- The File button opens a file search dialog box. The icon will be pulled up automatically
- The Folder button works the same way as the Add button before - it creates a folder in the current location and goes to it. The Folder button is in the same place as the Add button, so you can add a folder almost as easy as double-clicking.
Icons fetching
The application can now extract icons from almost any type of file and URL.
Forced restart
If the application freezes, is not displayed correctly, or the tray menu is missing, just launch it again to close the old version and open the new one. Does not affect open editing, deleting, and settings windows.
Application launching has been completely rewritten
Due to problems with launching some applications via Go (for example, old games in compatibility mode), the algorithm for launching shortcuts has been replaced.
Icon cleaning system
Now unused icons (from deleted shortcuts) are removed autmatically.
UX updates
- Added a spinner for cases when icons did not load instantly
- Also, the spinner now marks the current edited/deleted element (there may be several of them)
Installation
- To install from scratch, download the zip archive and unzip it to any directory (the application is portable)
- To update, download and replace sidelaunch.exe
