Go-DateParser v1.4.3

This release tracks the applicable Python dateparser changes through v1.4.3, with all 66 commits after the previous v1.2.1 baseline accounted for in the compatibility ledger. Intentional Go differences and known exceptions remain documented there.

NOTE: The upgrade from 1.2.4 to 1.4.3 was performed with the help of GPT-6-Astra.

Upgrade

Requires Go 1.26.0 or newer; the recommended development toolchain is Go 1.27.1.

Downstream modules, including go-htmldate, can use this tag without waiting for a merge into main. They must also support the new Go minimum.

Changes

  • Enable checked-in, pure-Go re2go exact locale matchers by default with cgo either enabled or disabled. Consumers need no generator, build tag, or configuration change.
  • Add conservative ASCII fast paths for timezone rejection and split-token classification, retaining existing Unicode and malformed-UTF-8 behavior.
  • Refresh CLDR locale data to 44.1.0, preserving older vocabulary and locales and adding regional overrides including en-US.
  • Add optional n-gram search, English time-span results, and parsing with unknown surrounding edge text.
  • Fix relative offsets, Russian phrases/search, ambiguous dates, required-parts validation, ordinal layouts, and BST/HDT offsets.
  • Fix shared normalization and search-state races; refresh dependencies, tests, CI, API documentation, and executable README examples.

Performance and Validation

On the documented Windows/Go 1.27.1 corpora, current defaults used 31.3% less parse time and 36.8% less search time than the same current parser with these optimizations disabled. Generated matching adds about 2.06 MB (14%) to the root test executable. These are workload-specific results, not guarantees; see the full measurements and limitations.

Release checks passed: full Go 1.26.0 suite without cgo, full Go 1.26.0 RE2/Wasm suite, and full Go 1.27.1 race suite. Native RE2/cgo linking was not tested locally because its separate library is not installed.
