What's New in v1.2.0 馃殌
This release introduces historical backfilling capabilities via a new epoch-timestamp overload, exposes runtime version queries, and comprehensively updates the project's documentation and examples.
Added
- Historical Backfilling Support: Added a
generate_uuid(p_epoch_ms IN NUMBER)overload. This allows you to generate UUIDv7 values anchored to a caller-supplied Unix epoch millisecond timestamp, making it perfect for backfilling historical records. - Runtime Versioning:
- Exposed a
VERSION CONSTANT VARCHAR2(10)in the package specification, queryable via:
SELECT pl_uuidv7.VERSION FROM dual; - Added a
get_version()function that returns this constant for PL/SQL contexts where direct constant references aren't permitted.
Changed & Updated Docs
- Examples: Updated both
basic_usage.sqlandmonotonic_generation.sqlto demonstrate the new epoch-based bulk insert patterns and overloads. - Documentation: Completely refreshed
README.md,docs/api-reference.md, anddocs/getting-started.mdto document the new epoch-based sub-sections, inline queries, and PL/SQL block patterns.

[1.2.0] - 2026-05-16
Added
generate_uuid(p_epoch_ms IN NUMBER)overload for historical records backfilling.VERSIONconstant in package spec for runtime version queries.get_version()function wrapper for PL/SQL execution contexts.
Changed
- Updated
examples/monotonic_generation.sqlandexamples/basic_usage.sqlwith epoch-based patterns. - Expanded
docs/api-reference.md,docs/getting-started.md, andREADME.mdto fully document both functions.
[1.1.0] - 2026-05-07
Added
- Test suite
test_uuidv7.sql(validates format, variant, nibble, hyphens, and uniqueness). - Bulk test suite
test_uuidv7_monotonic.sql(validates 10,000 continuous sequential UUIDs). - Clean package removal script (
install/uninstall.sql).
Changed
- Migrated source layout to a clean Maven-style directory structure (
src/main/oracle/...,src/test/oracle/...). - Removed hardcoded schema names from package definitions to target the connected schema natively.
- Standardized all source files to 2-space indentation.
- Translated monotonicity state internal comments to English.
[1.0.0] - 2026-05-01
Added
- Initial Release: Core PL/SQL UUIDv7 implementation fully compliant with RFC 9562.
- Package specification (
pl_uuidv7.pks) and body (pl_uuidv7.pkb). - Implementation of the 48-bit Unix epoch millisecond timestamp, version 7 nibble, and variant bits.
- Session-scoped monotonicity counter using package-level state variables.
- Schema-agnostic deployment script (
install/install.sql). - Baseline documentation (Getting started, API reference, and RFC compliance notes).
