Margin Rail 1.2.4
Fixes the bookmark icon fading on Mac after the iPad compatibility improvements in 1.2.3.
- Keeps the bookmark icon at a steady opacity instead of inheriting Obsidian’s icon hover fade.
- Preserves the same SVG during label refreshes, replacing it only when its bookmark state changes.
- Keeps iPad pointer support and missing-icon fallbacks intact.
Includes the improvements from 1.2.3: more precise rail dragging, optional Mac trackpad haptic ticks (off by default), reliable iPad taps and rapid navigation, and correct active marks for closely spaced headings. No touch haptics are added.
Validated with the automated suite, Chromium/WebKit regression tests, and hands-on Mac and iPad testing.

Bug fixes and improvements
- Made By section length tracking follow heading positions in the rendered note. Clicking a mark and opening a heading bookmark use the same landing rule, placing headings near the top when space allows.
- Gave short and empty sections more useful tracking ranges, including consecutive template headings near the bottom of a note.
- Fixed the double jump when repeatedly clicking the same heading mark.
- Added Place cursor at heading for editing mode and Briefly highlight heading for fading destination feedback in reading and editing modes. Both options are off by default and remain independent of presets.
Existing saved configurations remain supported.
Margin Rail 1.2.1
Fix heading navigation and active marks
- With By section length or Equal shares tracking, clicking a mark now navigates to that mark's assigned scroll range, matching the active-mark rule and the settings preview.
- Heading bookmarks opened through Obsidian and ordinary heading links use the same allocation in both reading and editing modes.
- Follow the note and No tracking retain exact heading jumps.
- Deferred navigation waits for rendering and source data, and is cancelled by newer navigation, manual input, or switching files.
- Added regression coverage for rail clicks, bookmark navigation, late source loading, and navigation hook cleanup.

Customization
- Compact settings tabs with Normal choices and Advanced sliders plus exact numeric inputs.
- Normal choices reflect the actual values, showing Custom only when no named choice matches.
- New mark alignment and section-progress fill direction controls.
- New Focus and Dot hover effects alongside Still, Swell, and Heading badge.
- Separate label animations for showing/hiding and moving between marks, with independent timing and reduced-motion support.
Presets
- v2 is the default, with Absolutely available as its own starting style.
- Updated Progress styling with square marks and right-to-left section fill.
- Absolutely uses relaxed mark motion and Slide for both label animations; Progress keeps label animations off.
- Contextual Update actions, inline Save as, and a compact preset management menu.
- Preset updates preserve the intended destination and no longer create repeated Custom (unsaved) entries.
- Fixed preset name clipping and alignment.
Fixes
- Reliable heading bookmark actions without losing the selected heading on click.
- Labels stay open after a bookmark click and dismiss when the cursor leaves, while keyboard focus remains supported.
- Added Chromium coverage for settings, presets, label animations, and bookmark interactions to release verification.

Margin Rail 1.0.5
Margin Rail now requires Obsidian 1.2.7 or later, the first public release with the Bookmarks core plugin.
- Added a remove-bookmark icon fallback for older Obsidian icon sets.
- Added a section-progress highlight fallback for browser engines without color-mix.
- Updated installation and compatibility information in the README.
Validation: all automated checks pass. The minimum is based on an API and historical source audit; hands-on desktop testing includes 1.12.7 and 1.14.4. Obsidian 1.2.7 has not been manually tested.
Margin Rail 1.0.4
Scrolling now batches updates once per animation frame and skips unnecessary reading-section measurements. Workspace changes reuse existing rails; slider changes update immediately with debounced, ordered settings saves.
Custom styles now apply in popout windows and are scoped to the rail and label. Cleanup removes the owned positioning class, cancels pending scroll work, and flushes pending settings on unload.
Validation: all automated checks pass, including new regression coverage for scroll bursts, 5,000 reading sections, mode changes, late indexing, multi-window styles, settings persistence, and cleanup. Native UI performance and popout behavior have not been manually re-tested in this release.
