Thanks

A huge thank you to @Dreamescaper for contributing this feature and bringing native Home Assistant infrared support to AR Smart IR. 🙌

What's New

✨ Native Infrared Controller Support

AR Smart IR now supports Home Assistant's native infrared emitter platform, introduced in Home Assistant 2026.4.

You can now select Infrared as a controller type and send commands through any infrared.* emitter entity, such as an ESPHome IR proxy or other compatible infrared transmitter.

Key Features

  • Full support for Home Assistant's native infrared platform.

  • Works with existing infrared emitter entities.

  • Automatic normalization of stored codes to Home Assistant's native signed raw timing format.

  • Existing code libraries continue to work without modification, including:

    • Base64
    • HEX
    • Pronto
    • Raw
    • Tuya

Notes

  • Requires Home Assistant 2026.4.0 or newer.
  • AR Smart IR uses an existing Home Assistant infrared emitter and does not expose itself as an infrared transmitter.
  • Native infrared receiver-based learning is not yet supported.
