⚠️ KNOWN ISSUE — a follower can stop fighting

This affects the animated-heal path (Harbinger v0.9.1). While a heal claim is live, Harbinger's equip
deny is too broad and strips the follower of their own attack spells, so they can appear to freeze.
Fixed in Harbinger v0.9.2 — update Harbinger and it goes away.

If you stay on Harbinger v0.9.1: turn bHealAnimPackage off in the MFO MCM. Heals then apply instantly, exactly as
in earlier versions, and the follower fights normally. Everything else in this release is unaffected.

v2.0.1 -- Followers cast heals for real

  • Your followers now cast healing spells with real animations, at you and at each other. The follower's own combat AI does the casting, so the charge, the aim and the animation style are the game's own rather than something faked on top. This is the first time a follower has been able to heal anyone but themselves through the game's own casting logic.
  • A heal tops you off instead of stopping early. The gambit's own health threshold decides when to stop.
  • Fixed followers standing around unarmed out of combat. A timing budget was expiring while a follower was still using it. The same bug was killing heals before they could start.
  • A follower set to loot valuables now grabs gold too, from a container or a loose pile on the ground. Loot valuables always meant "grab what is worth money" and coin is the plainest case, but it used to need its own separate "loot gold" rule that almost nobody set. If you already use loot valuables your followers will start picking up coin they did not before. "Loot gold" still works on its own if that is all you want.
  • A loose gem lying out in the open counts as valuables too, not just ones already sitting in a container or on a corpse.
  • Loose soul gems, jewellery, ingredients and equipment lying out in the open are still not picked up. Generalizing "loose on the ground" to every item type is a later step.
  • Requires Harbinger (APMF) v0.9.1 or newer. This is a beta build.

Unreleased (branch feat/forced-cast, not shipped) -- Composed Forced Cast groundwork

  • Not a release. This branch is not merged, not pushed, and CI has not run on it. Nothing below changes what you see in game yet.
  • Fixed a real bug where a follower's own forced cast could get wrongly vetoed as "unbounded" at the strictest cast-control setting (Exact), and the cast would hard-abort mid-stream. That bound now recognizes every cast MFO itself is running, not just the one it used to.
  • Laid the groundwork for a real animated forced cast, the kind of thing that would let a heal actually play its cast animation instead of just landing. The one piece that triggers the animation is not built yet, so this does nothing visible for now. Heals still work exactly the way they do today.
  • Retired the old package-based animated-heal experiment. It is replaced by the groundwork above, and it was never shipped, so there is nothing for you to notice.
  • Harbinger's interface bumped a version to carry the new cast-claim contract this groundwork needs.

Requires Harbinger (APMF) v0.9.1

The animated casting in this release is performed by the follower's own combat AI, driven through Harbinger.

⬇️ Harbinger v0.9.1 -- required for animated heals. Without it MFO falls back to its own instant heal, exactly as before.

For modders: the API MFO uses is Harbinger's ABI v5 (APMF_API_v5), intent kIntent_Cast, via RequestCast.
