ShellX Drive 0.1.1

Initial release.

ShellX Drive provides a self-hosted file server, browser workspace and desktop sync client. Manage files, folders, revisions and trash; preview supported documents; search file text; and share accessible items with account or group Viewer/Editor grants, guest links and upload drops. Administrators can manage accounts and create, validate and restore backups.

Desktop sync is available for Windows x86-64, macOS Apple Silicon and Linux x86-64. Connect one server/account to a local base folder, select accessible roots, and review conflicts through the desktop application. Disconnect this PC retains local files.

Install

Verify the selected download against SHA256SUMS and the package's publisher/signature using the platform guide.

  • Server: use shellx-drive-0.1.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz and its .sha256 file. Follow First install to verify the package, configure a Linux x86-64 systemd service and expose it through your HTTPS reverse proxy.
  • Windows: run the signed x64 setup executable. The desktop uses WebView2. See the Windows guide.
  • macOS: open the signed, notarized DMG on Apple Silicon and install the app. See the macOS guide.
  • Linux: choose the Debian package or AppImage. The desktop requires GTK 3, WebKitGTK 4.1, an AppIndicator tray runtime and a Secret Service desktop session. See the Linux guide.

Launch the desktop, validate your HTTPS server URL, sign in, choose an accessible root and a local folder, then connect. The browser interface works in a current standards-compliant browser. See support and compatibility for runtime requirements and data boundaries.
