Release list
v0.4.14
ArSonKuPik OBS Audio Enhancer v0.4.14
Highlights
- Delivers a consistent immediate ON/bypass wow effect across every factory preset.
- Preserves the v0.4.13 real-time hardening for crackle-free parameter changes, lower CPU cost, and stable dynamics.
- Uses a fixed per-preset calibration instead of a moving loudness AGC, so the level benefit does not chase the source or recreate pumping.
Preset wow calibration
- Moderate macro values now use slightly stronger response curves, so Mastering, Audiophile, Movie, Podcast, Night Listening, and other restrained presets sound more clearly processed while preserving their own tonal identity.
- Every factory preset receives a fixed source-independent calibration trim.
- The maintained smoke signal measures both RMS and peak benefit for every preset.
- Required factory-preset window: approximately +3 dB RMS, with transient peak benefit guarded below +4.7 dB and no clipping.
Real-time architecture retained from v0.4.13
- UI updates publish only atomic numeric values and flags. Preset names and
std::stringvalues never cross into shared audio-thread state. - DSP engines are prepared and mutated only by the OBS audio callback.
- Preset changes are prepared in a second engine and crossfaded for 10 ms; no remainder of the OBS block is muted.
- Continuous macro automation uses a fixed 96-stage-capacity biquad bank with stable stage count inside each preset.
- Repeated macro retuning is allocation-free after initialization.
CPU and stability
- Compressor attack/release coefficients, limiter release/ceiling/drive, width-detector coefficients, and linear input/output gains are cached.
- Compressor transfer calculation runs at an interpolated 8-sample control rate.
- Stereo analysis runs every 16 samples using true energy correlation.
- Meter conversion runs once per audio block instead of once per sample.
- Parallel compression uses unity-preserving linear dry/wet mixing.
- Gain staging keeps fixed -8 dB creative-chain headroom with calibrated restore; there is no dynamic full-band makeup AGC.
Preset calibration results
The maintained 48 kHz stereo smoke signal produced the following default ON/bypass differences:

| SonKuHoreg | +3.10 dB | +4.28 dB |
| SonKuBattle | +3.00 dB | +4.55 dB |
| SonKuBalap | +3.00 dB | +4.37 dB |
| Audiophile | +3.08 dB | +3.66 dB |

| Open Air | +3.06 dB | +3.85 dB |
| Movie Sub | +3.00 dB | +4.15 dB |
| Podcast | +3.02 dB | +3.88 dB |
| Night Listening | +3.00 dB | +3.80 dB |
No preset clipped in this calibration run.
Hardening regression results
- Automation maximum-jump ratio versus static render: 1.00071× (limit: 1.10×).
- Limiter stress-test output peak: -1.90 dBFS.
- Correlation meter: +1.000 for identical stereo and -0.999996 for inverted stereo.
- Bass-linked pumping test variation: 0.0057 dB.
- Realtime parameter/process allocation test: 0 allocations after initialization.
- AddressSanitizer and UndefinedBehaviorSanitizer standalone tests: passed.
Listening boundary
The numeric gates prevent quiet-preset regressions, extreme hidden boosts, clipping, allocation regressions, and known hardening failures. Final approval also includes listening in native OBS with music, voice, bass-heavy material, rapid knob movement, repeated preset switching, and several plugin instances.
v0.4.12
ArSonKuPik OBS Audio Enhancer v0.4.12
Highlights
- Recalibrates gain staging after the stronger v0.4.11 VST-style macro controls.
- Keeps the audible knob movement, but prevents Filter ON from becoming a large hidden volume boost.
- Adds an internal -8 dB creative-chain headroom trim before the DSP rack, with only partial calibrated restore afterward.
What changed
- The creative rack now receives lower internal level so EQ, color, compressor, and width stages have cleaner headroom.
- Smart makeup is capped lower and rises more conservatively.
- Compressor makeup and parallel density are reduced so bass-heavy content does not feel like it is pumping.
- Output gain mapping is recalibrated so the main MasAri preset targets roughly +3 to +4 dB benefit in the smoke test instead of a very large level jump.
- The DSP smoke test now fails if the main preset moves outside the calibrated target or if any preset creates an extreme hidden boost.
Test result
- MasAri smoke-test peak benefit: about +3.41 dB.
- SonKuHoreg smoke-test peak benefit: about +3.48 dB.
- SonKuBalap smoke-test peak benefit: about +3.92 dB.
- SonKuBattle remains the hottest stress preset at about +4.63 dB, still below the extreme boost guard.
- Clipping: no.
Notes
This release intentionally does not weaken the v0.4.11 macro feel. The fix is gain staging: more internal headroom, lower restore, and tighter smart makeup.
v0.4.11
ArSonKuPik OBS Audio Enhancer v0.4.11
Highlights
- Ported the stronger askp-vst style macro control behavior into the OBS engine.
- Smart Bass, Smart Treble, Vocal Body, and Stereo Magic now react more clearly when moved from minimum to maximum.
- Kept the v0.4.10 crackle-free smoothing, CPU-safe dirty apply behavior, and stable no-pumping makeup guard.
What changed
- Smart Bass is now bipolar: left cleans rumble/mud, center is neutral, right adds sub/body/punch.
- Smart Treble is now bipolar: left smooths harshness/sibilance, center is neutral, right adds air/presence/sparkle.
- Vocal Body is now bipolar: left tucks/smooths vocal, center is neutral, right moves vocal forward with body and clarity.
- Stereo Magic is now bipolar: left narrows toward mono, center is raw/neutral, right widens/open side air.
- Macro EQ lanes stay allocated in a stable order so slider automation remains crackle-safe.
Testing focus
- Sweep each knob from 0 to 100 while audio is playing.
- Confirm the effect is clearly audible without zipper noise.
- Confirm bass-heavy sources do not create obvious pumping.
- Confirm Stereo Magic at minimum narrows strongly and at maximum opens the image.
Notes
This release is a feel/behavior release. It makes the four main creative knobs more useful while preserving the crackle-free and CPU-conscious architecture from v0.4.10.
v0.4.10
ArSonKuPik OBS Audio Enhancer v0.4.10
Highlights
- Crackle-free slider movement with a lighter CPU path.
- Continuous OBS knobs use 80 ms smoothing, snap-to-target, and dirty-apply behavior so the engine does not retune forever after controls settle.
- EQ retuning preserves biquad history, preventing filter-state discontinuities during automation.
- Smart makeup recovery is slower while peak protection reacts faster, reducing audible pumping on dense music.
User-facing result
- Moving Enhance, Smart Bass, Smart Treble, Vocal Body, Stereo Magic, and Output Trim while audio is playing should feel smooth instead of crackly.
- Normal playback after controls settle should be lighter on CPU because retuning stops when the target is reached.
- Loudness benefit remains, but gain recovery is calmer to avoid obvious breathing/pumping.
Technical notes
rebuild_eq()is state-preserving for same-topology retunes.- Butterworth Q values use static tables instead of repeated vector allocation.
- OBS wrapper stores target parameters, smooths them per audio block, and applies runtime state only while parameters are changing.
- Preset switching still uses an equal-power micro-fade around topology swaps.
v0.4.9
ArSonKuPik OBS Audio Enhancer v0.4.9
Highlights
- Crackle-free slider movement for the OBS filter.
- Continuous knobs now use professional-style 80 ms smoothing, so aggressive mouse movement does not create zipper noise.
- EQ rebuild now preserves biquad history during coefficient retune, avoiding discontinuities that previously sounded like “kretek-kretek”.
- Preset changes now use an equal-power micro-fade around topology swaps to reduce pop/click artifacts.
What changed technically
rebuild_eq()no longer clears and recreates EQ filters for ordinary knob automation.- Butterworth Q values now come from static tables, avoiding repeated small allocations during retune.
- OBS wrapper no longer pushes every UI event directly into the engine. It stores target parameters, smooths them per audio block, then applies the smoothed runtime state.
User-facing result
- Move Enhance, Smart Bass, Smart Treble, Vocal Body, Stereo Magic, and Output Trim while audio is playing: the sound should change smoothly instead of crackling.
- Switching presets should feel cleaner and more like a professional VST-style audio plugin.
Notes
This release focuses on audio-thread safety and automation smoothness. It does not intentionally change the core tonal target of the presets.
