GraphRAG Notes 0.1.0-rc.1 macOS Apple Silicon candidate
Pre-releaseFirst macOS Apple Silicon validation candidate for guided setup (#57), from PR #65.
This prerelease contains one native aarch64-apple-darwin archive, SHA256SUMS, and BUILDINFO.json. It targets macOS 15 or newer and was exercised on macOS 27.0.1 with Rust 1.97.1 and Ollama 0.35.0. Intel and Linux binaries and live walkthroughs are deferred.
The source-built CLI passed the complete 19-step live first-run walkthrough: preview, explicit configuration creation, provider checks, sample import/search, unchanged reimport, existing-config safety, missing/unavailable provider diagnostics, and recovery. The sample launch plan ranked first. Explicit phi4-mini entity extraction also succeeded. The binary links only Apple/system libraries; OpenSSL is statically linked.
Install this candidate explicitly (GitHub's latest stable release endpoint excludes prereleases):
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mateu/graphrag-notes/v0.1.0-rc.1/scripts/install.sh -o /tmp/graphrag-install.sh
bash /tmp/graphrag-install.sh --help
bash /tmp/graphrag-install.sh --version 0.1.0-rc.1
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
graphrag --version
graphrag init --backend ollamaInspect the installer before running it. It verifies the archive checksum, preserves existing sample notes, and requires --force to replace an existing binary. Configuration creation is a separate explicit init --write step. See the tag's getting-started guide for Ollama models, sample import/search, and source-build fallback.
Fresh installation from these published assets passed using only system tools in PATH, with Rust absent. The installed executable and sample hashes matched BUILDINFO.json; all 19 live walkthrough steps passed again, including import/search, unchanged reimport, config/database safety, failure diagnostics, and recovery. Explicit local phi4-mini extraction and final doctor also passed. Existing-binary refusal and explicit reinstallation preserving an edited sample were validated in temporary directories. Results are recorded in PR #65's docs/setup-validation.md.
