Mongo Studio v0.0.1
Mongo Studio v0.0.1 — initial release
First public build of Mongo Studio, an open-source MongoDB GUI client (Tauri + React). Everything below shipped in this release:
Connections
- Save any number of connections — paste a URI or fill in host/port — with advanced options: TLS (custom CA/client cert), SSH tunneling, auth mechanism/source, replica set, connection pool size, timeouts.
- Secrets (passwords, passphrases) go through the OS keychain (macOS Keychain / Windows Credential Manager / Linux Secret Service), with an encrypted-file fallback on headless Linux.
Browse & query
- Database/collection tree in the sidebar.
- Find bar (filter / sort / limit / skip) and an aggregation pipeline editor.
- Explain support (query planner / execution stats / all plans execution) with a plain-English summary of which index was used, or whether it fell back to a full collection scan.
- Indexes tab showing each collection's indexes plus
$indexStatsusage counters (degrades gracefully if your role doesn't have that privilege). - Copy any document as JSON, or jump to the console with an
updateOnescript pre-filled for that document's_id.
Scripting console
- An embedded, mongosh-style JS console backed by a QuickJS runtime — no external
mongoshbinary required. db.collection(name)gives youfind, findOne,insertOne,updateOne,deleteOne,aggregate, countDocuments, with top-levelawait.- Runaway scripts are killed on a timeout rather than hanging the app.
Export
- Stream a find or aggregate result straight to CSV (never buffers the full result set in memory).
- Choose between flattening nested fields into columns (
address.city,items.0.sku) or keeping them as JSON text in one cell.
Look & feel
- Six built-in color themes (including a light one), picked from the sidebar — the console editor's theme follows along automatically.
Known limitations
- Builds are unsigned — expect a Gatekeeper warning on macOS and a SmartScreen warning on Windows the first time you launch.
- Kerberos (GSSAPI) authentication isn't included in this build (it pulls in a system Kerberos/SASL dependency); everything else — SCRAM, X.509, MONGODB-AWS — works out of the box.
