Interceptify

Windows tray app that blocks ads in Spotify (and other desktop apps) via an embedded mitmproxy.

🛑 READ THIS FIRST — You need the desktop installer version of Spotify from spotify.com/download. The Microsoft Store version will NOT work (sandbox blocks loopback / ignores system proxy). Uninstall the Store version and install from spotify.com before using this.

Install

  1. Download Interceptify.exe below.
  2. Double-click. Accept the UAC prompt (needed to install the mitmproxy CA).
  3. Left-click the tray icon to toggle blocking ON/OFF.

First run

  • On first toggle ON, the app generates a mitmproxy CA and installs it into your Windows Trusted Root store.
  • Your hosts file is not modified — this uses a local HTTPS proxy on 127.0.0.1:8080, not the hosts file.

Learn mode

When a Spotify ad plays, pause it and click 🎵 Ad is playing — capture now — new rules are appended to filters/spotify-learned.txt next to the exe.
