Interceptify

Windows tray app that blocks ads in the Spotify desktop client by patching its xpui.spa UI bundle.

🛑 READ THIS FIRST — You need the desktop installer version of Spotify from spotify.com/download. The Microsoft Store version will NOT work (sandbox prevents file modification). Uninstall the Store version and install from spotify.com before using this.

Install

1. Download Interceptify.exe below.
2. Double-click. Accept the UAC prompt (needed to write Spotify's xpui.spa).
3. Right-click the tray icon → Patch Spotify. Spotify will close and relaunch with ad-blocking active.

How it works

• Injects a small JS file into Spotify's UI bundle (%APPDATA%\Spotify\Apps\xpui.spa)
• Watches the DOM for ad elements (leavebehind-*, embedded-ad, ads-video-player-npv, …) and Spotify's own 'adplaying' events
• When detected: clicks Spotify's skip button; if skip is denied, mutes via Spotify's volume control
• Hides visual ad surfaces with CSS

Spotify auto-updates

Spotify auto-updates wipe the patch. Click Patch Spotify again after an update — original xpui.spa is preserved at xpui.spa.interceptify-backup.
