There is nothing to install first. The download carries its own video engine and the same ffmpeg build the other platforms render with, so it does not depend on what your distribution packages. It needs glibc 2.35 or newer - Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12, Fedora 36, RHEL 9 or later - and it takes GTK, OpenGL and your audio stack from the system, as any desktop application does.

Clipsmasher-Linux-x86_64.tar.gz is the same build as an ordinary directory, for a machine without FUSE and for packagers. Unpack it and run ./Clipsmasher.

The one difference from the other desktops: there is no microphone in the AI panel, because Linux has no system speech recognition service to call. Every command can be typed, which is how the panel is mostly used anyway.

Windows — ClipSmasher-Windows.zip

x64, portable and not yet signed. Unzip it anywhere and run clipsmasher.exe from the Clip Smasher folder. Everything the app needs sits beside the exe, so it runs from a USB stick or a folder on your desktop; there is no installer.

Because it is unsigned, Windows SmartScreen will show a blue "Windows protected your PC" box the first time. More info and then Run anyway gets past it. Code signing is coming, and it is what makes that box go away.
