Configuration

VitaRPS5 keeps its settings in one TOML file on the Vita:

ux0:data/vita-chiaki/chiaki.toml

Most options are in the in-app Settings screen. You only need to edit the file for the few that are not, or to reset things. Edit it with VitaShell (or over FTP) while the app is closed; the app rewrites the file when settings change.

Rules of the file

  • Settings go under [settings]. A [general] section with version = 1 must exist, otherwise the whole file is ignored and defaults are used.
  • A wrong or missing value falls back to the default.
  • Older layouts (settings in another section or at the top level) are still read and are moved into [settings] the next time the app saves.

[settings] options

Key Type Default Meaning
auto_discovery true/false true Start looking for consoles at launch.
resolution text "540p" "360p" or "540p". "720p" and "1080p" are read but changed to "540p" on the Vita.
fps number 30 30 or 60. Anything else becomes 30.
latency_mode text "balanced" Target bitrate: "ultra_low" (about 1.2 Mbps), "low" (1.8), "balanced" (2.6), "high" (3.2), "max" (3.8). Unknown text means balanced.
stretch_video true/false false true stretches the picture to fill the screen; false keeps its shape. ("Fill Screen")
force_30fps true/false false Drop frames on the Vita so the picture shows at 30 FPS.
circle_btn_confirm true/false from the Vita's system setting true: Circle confirms in the app menus. Does not change controls during a stream.
show_latency true/false false Show the metrics readout in the Profile screen and stream overlay.
show_network_indicator true/false true Show the "Network unstable" badge while streaming.
show_stream_exit_hint true/false true Show the how-to-exit hint while streaming.
show_nav_labels true/false false Text labels under the selected navigation icon.
show_only_paired true/false false Main screen lists only consoles you have registered.
psn_remoteplay_enabled true/false false Turn on PSN Internet mode.
enable_logging true/false false Write a log file (the "Enable Logging" switch). See Logging.
send_actual_start_bitrate true/false true Send the chosen bitrate to the console in the stream request; false sends 0.
clamp_soft_restart_bitrate true/false true When the app restarts the stream in place, cap the restart bitrate at 1.5 Mbps (1500 kbps).
submit_on_missing_ref true/false false Experimental ("Motion during loss (artifacts)"). Keep showing video during packet loss, with visible glitches, instead of freezing until the console sends a full frame.
controller_map_id number 201 Which custom controller layout is active: 201, 202 or 203. Anything else becomes 201.

Other sections

  • [controller_custom_map_1] to [controller_custom_map_3]: your three custom controller layouts. Made in the Settings screen; do not edit by hand.
  • [[registered_hosts]] and [[manual_hosts]]: consoles you registered or added by IP. Managed by the app.
  • psn_* keys (account ID, encrypted tokens, DUID and others): managed by the app, do not edit.
  • [logging]: only read in testing builds. Keys: enabled, force_error_logging, profile, path, queue_depth. Production builds ignore it. Details on Logging.

Reset

Close the app, delete ux0:data/vita-chiaki/chiaki.toml with VitaShell, and start again. This also removes your registered consoles and PSN login.
