Plate|Fold turns documents into PDFs while giving wide figures room to stay readable. A figure can sit beside the text, move to a landscape page or use a larger sheet within the same document. Your files stay on your machine.

This release includes the desktop application, Python packages and signed update artifacts. Windows installers carry publisher signatures. The Apple Silicon package is signed and notarized. You can verify every download against SHA256SUMS, its signatures and the release manifest.

Downloads

  • Windows x64: choose the offline installer for a machine without internet access, the online installer for a smaller download, or the portable ZIP.
  • Linux x86_64: use the Debian package or follow LINUX-INSTALL.md for the AppImage and its permissions. On Ubuntu, use the documented administrator-managed installation for bundled-browser rendering.
  • Apple Silicon: the DMG requires macOS 15.1 or later. The updater archive is for the application's update mechanism.
  • Python 3.11+: the wheel and source distribution are included below.

Known limits

Native Windows install, export, saved settings, removal and authenticated update were checked. Linux checks covered Debian installation and removal, rendering through the supported Debian and administrator-managed AppImage routes, and AppImage replacement. Default user-owned AppImage rendering on Ubuntu is limited by its browser sandbox policy. Native Apple Silicon GUI/update behavior, portable Windows GUI, automatic restart and recovery after a Windows installer has removed the previous version remain unqualified.

If you change installation-folder permissions while the update dialog is open, its guidance can remain stale. Turn manual update checks off and on to refresh it. Failed Linux staging was checked before replacement. Failure after the final rename is not covered by that check.

Plate|Fold is released under the MIT license. See the documentation for installation, themes and artifact verification.
