Chora helps you compare a set of places, cases, ideas, or other items across
paired qualities. You score each item and examine the results in linked maps.

Requirements

  • A Mac with Apple silicon
  • macOS 12 or later
  • Permission to use Open Anyway in System Settings

Download

Under Assets, download:

  • Chora-0.1.0-beta.3-arm64.dmg
  • SHA256SUMS.txt

GitHub also provides Source code ZIP and TAR files for developers.

Verify the download

Put the DMG and SHA256SUMS.txt in the same folder. Open Terminal in that
folder and run:

shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt

The result should be:

Chora-0.1.0-beta.3-arm64.dmg: OK

The expected SHA-256 value is:

72578ec8f0c235e760bcc913cd831bb6f9df9f680c5e600e929e49b0de360e37

Install on macOS

  1. Open the DMG and copy Chora to Applications. Replace the older copy if
    prompted.
  2. Try to open Chora once. The free prerelease uses an ad-hoc code signature.
Apple has not notarized it, so macOS will block the first launch.
  3. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  4. Find the message about Chora and choose Open Anyway.
  5. Authenticate if asked, then confirm Open.

A school- or employer-managed Mac may prevent this step.

Before you begin

  • Read the Chora introduction and quick start.
  • Keep a backup of any .chora file you need to preserve while Chora remains
    in prerelease.
  • Chora does not install updates automatically. Use Help → Check for
    Updates…
to return to the Releases page.

Questions and feedback

Chora sessions and imported datasets may contain names, notes, judgments, or
other sensitive research material. Do not post them publicly without permission
to publish everything they contain. Use a small invented example when possible.
