Opaline 0.1.4
A launcher and window switcher, and a much smaller download.
New
- Launcher: press Alt+Space to open any app from the Start menu, desktop and Store apps alike. Apps you open often come first. You can change the shortcut in Settings → Actions.
- Window switcher: the same list shows your open windows, like Alt+Tab, with each app's icon. Press Enter to switch, and the pointer moves onto the window (you can turn that off). Shift+Enter puts it side by side with the app you were in.
- An open window ranks above opening another copy of its app, so typing "word" switches to your document.
- Actions now has three scopes: the app you're in, Windows and Apps. Tab and Shift+Tab switch between them.
- Smart search understands requests like "open my music app". Only app names are sent, never window titles.
Improved
- The download is about 15 MB instead of 40 MB.
- Actions in File Explorer use the folder of the tab you're looking at.

Improved

Opaline 0.1.3
Describe what you copied to find it, and keep your API keys out of sight.
New
- Smart search in your clipboard history, powered by TypeSafe's Jev model. Type something like "the link I copied in Chrome yesterday" or "screenshot from earlier today", and Opaline shows the matching items. A small chip shows what it understood, and ✕ clears it.
- What you copied is never sent. Jev only turns your request into a filter: the kind of item, the app and the time. Opaline applies it on your PC. Only what you type and the names of the apps in your history are sent, and nothing at all when your words already match something.
- Turn it on or off in Settings → History.
- Passwords and API keys are hidden. When you copy a secret, like an OpenAI or GitHub key, a token or a password in a link, the history shows it as *** with what it looks like. Press Ctrl+H to show it. Pasting works as usual. You can turn this off in Settings → History.

Opaline 0.1.0
Opaline 0.1.0 brings Actions: press a shortcut in any app to see what you can do there.
What's new
- Actions: press Ctrl+Alt+F in any app to see what you can do in it, and run it with Enter
- Chrome, Edge and Brave: switch to any open tab by typing part of its title, open split view, reopen closed tabs and more
- File Explorer: open a terminal or VS Code in the current folder, or copy its path
- Shortcut packs for VS Code, Windows Terminal, Notepad, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Slack, Teams, Discord, Spotify and Firefox
- The app's own menu (File, Edit, View, …) with its shortcuts, for apps with a classic menu bar such as Notepad++ and 7-Zip
- Window layouts for any app: halves, corners, thirds, almost maximize, center, next screen, keep on top and virtual desktops. Windows stay on the screen they're on
- Media controls: play/pause, next, previous and volume, whatever is playing
- Smart search: describe what you want in plain words, like "put two pages side by side", and Opaline picks the right action
- Three looks for Actions in Settings → Actions: Palette, Bar and Command
- Choose any shortcut: in Settings, click a shortcut and press the keys you want, for example Ctrl+B or F9. Opaline warns you when apps commonly use it
- Get beta updates option in Settings → Updates
- A log file to help track down problems: Settings → About → Open logs

Opaline-0.1.0-win-x64.zip |
Most Windows PCs (Intel or AMD) |
Opaline-0.1.0-win-arm64.zip |
ARM PCs (Surface, Snapdragon) |
Already using Opaline? It updates itself, and your history and settings carry over.
Known issues
- Actions can't control apps running as administrator.
- Modern apps such as Chrome, VS Code and Office don't share their menus with other apps, so for those Opaline shows its built-in shortcuts instead.
- Not code-signed yet. Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info → Run anyway.
Opaline 0.1.0-beta.4
Beta: three looks for Actions, window layouts and app menus.
New
- Choose how Actions looks in Settings → Actions: Palette (roomy rows with icons, where each action lives and its shortcut), Bar (just a bar; the list appears when you type or press ↓) or Command (a slim command line with a dense list).
- Window layouts: halves, corners, thirds, two thirds, almost maximize and move to the next screen, each with a small picture of where the window goes.
- The app's own menu (File, Edit, View, …) with its shortcuts, for apps with a classic menu bar such as Notepad++ and 7-Zip.
Improved
- The Actions popup is smaller and fits its content instead of always taking the full height.
Fixed
- Snapping a window on a second screen no longer moves it to the main screen.
Opaline 0.1.0-beta.3
Beta: choose any shortcut you like.
New
- Record your own shortcuts. In Settings (or during setup), click the Clipboard or Actions shortcut and press any combination, for example Ctrl+B, Win+Alt+V or F9. Esc cancels, and the reset button restores the default.
- Opaline warns you when a shortcut is one many apps use themselves (like Ctrl+B for Bold), since Opaline takes it over everywhere.
Fixed
- Changing the clipboard shortcut no longer turns off the Actions shortcut.
- The clipboard and Actions shortcuts can no longer be set to the same keys.
Your current shortcuts carry over.
