Citation Picker for Zotero 0.2.0 fixes lost or misplaced citations when editor focus changes, proxy-related connection failures, incomplete citation keys, and PDF lookup with custom endpoints. Existing commands, the extension ID, and the Pandoc default are preserved.
- Capture the original document and selections before opening the picker; recover citations to the clipboard when an edit cannot safely complete.
- Replace obsolete request libraries with direct, cancellable HTTP(S), bounded responses, useful errors, and a configurable picker timeout.
- Support complete Unicode and punctuation-bearing citation keys, validated PDF attachments, and language-specific output formats.
- Add Zotero: Check Connection and declare the local desktop extension host for remote workspaces.
- Update retained build tools, remove all runtime dependencies, bundle the extension, and add dependency maintenance.
Validation: 63 regression tests, typecheck, lint, formatting, and a zero-advisory dependency audit. Packaged editor tests passed on Windows, macOS, and Linux, including minimum VS Code 1.84.2 and current stable 1.136.1. A disposable Zotero 10.0.1 / Better BibTeX 9.0.63 profile verified the native picker, citation formats, readiness, and PDF lookup. Successful CI.
The Zotero 7 Linux Flatpak crash reported in #36 remains unverified; this release does not claim to resolve a Zotero process crash. Native picker and bibliography-management feature requests remain separate work. See the compatibility audit for every issue and PR disposition and exact testing boundaries.
