v2.19.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Aug 15:57
FireFlow 2.19.0 — the project is renamed, and the slug breaks with it

spotymod is now FireFlow. This release is the rename: the plugin slug, the
module slug, the faceplate wordmark, the repository and the release assets all
change together.

BREAKING — existing patches lose the module. The plugin and module slug go
Spotymod -> Fireflow, and VCV identifies saved modules by slug. A patch built
with spotymod will open with the module missing unless the old spotymod plugin
folder stays installed alongside this one; kept side by side, both load and old
patches keep working.

Assets are now Fireflow-2.19.0-<platform>.vcvplugin. Releases up to 2.18.x keep
the Spotymod name and are unaffected.

No engine change. The DSP, the panel layout and every control are identical to
2.18.3 — only names moved.

v2.18.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Aug 09:54
Spotymod 2.18.3 -- BBD SUB reads INPUT, with a percentage

The BBD's SUB knob is captioned INPUT instead of FEED, and on a BBD deck
its tooltip reads as a percentage of the signal that actually reaches the
delay line. Caption and tooltip only -- no engine code changed.

v2.18.2

chore(release): bump plugin version to 2.18.2

The signal-path declick round: FX switching is click-free at every
sample rate, FLUX fades what you actually hear and forgets stale takes,
the reverb tail fades out instead of being amputated, COMP's ceiling no
longer grabs -5 dB at knob 0.001, and master DRIVE sweeps are
zipper-free. Steady-state sound at 48 kHz is bit-identical.

v2.18.1

Spotymod 2.18.1

Reverb: the return is bounded and the bloom is playable.

- DECAY reads out as loop gain in percent, the way FLUX FB does, so the
point where the room starts feeding itself is visible instead of found
by ear. Unity moves to 0.80 and the top to 110%, giving the blooming
region the last fifth of the knob -- it used to exist only at the very
last point of the travel, where its speed could not be played at all.
- The return carries its own ceiling: a soft knee at 0.45, 7:1 above it,
with a ride measured in seconds. Past unity the room settles where its
own saturation puts it, not where the player put it.

New: the bloom duck. When the room's loop gain crosses unity the loop,
not the player, owns the level -- so the return envelope pulls the dry
bus back, sliding to -10 dB at the settled-bloom level. It arms on
regime, not on level, so an ordinary loud room never ducks. It rides in
seconds both ways (1.5 s in, 4 s out) and touches the dry sum only: the
send, the return and the excitation/deck taps are bit-identical.

NOTE: this remaps saved DECAY values -- 0.9667 was 103.3%, it is now
108.3%. The tooltip shows the figure, so the old sound is findable.

v2.18.0

Spotymod 2.18.0

New faceplate: the panel reads its captions from a table instead of
baking them into the plate, so every caption tells the truth about the
engine that is selected. MELODY does one thing per engine, REC appears
only where it records, and the RATE/TIME/ROOM/PITCH wording is now
DIV/MULT/SEND/BEND.

Reverb and master:
- SMEAR glides the diffuser LFOs instead of stepping them -- the
bit-reduction artefacts at high SMEAR are gone.
- The top tenth of DECAY is playable instead of dead, and the bloom now
leaves headroom at the master sum.
- The master DRIVE curve is square, so its action spreads over the whole
travel rather than its first fifth.

NOTE: two remaps. Saved DRIVE values shift (0.5 was 2.5x, now 1.75x),
and so do DECAY values between 0.9 and 1.0 (0.95 was loop gain 1.05,
now 1.025). Patches touching those ranges will sound different.

v2.15.1 — drone.vcvm as the init patch

The panel now boots on the drone patch dialled after 2.15.0: deck B on a
different engine, both decks off the step grid, FILT into the left half
the taper fix opened up, and a wetter, larger room.

LINK ships at 0 on both decks; STAGES differs between them on purpose.
