Maddog Sound Fix v3.1.0
Maddog Sound Fix v3.1.0
This release makes encrypted compatibility fingerprints available to the community and simplifies source admission and automatic upgrades. It does not add a new Leonardo version.
Before updating
Close Microsoft Flight Simulator and Leonardo Manager before running the installer. Normal versioned v3.0.0 output is recognized by its existing marker and can be upgraded automatically.
Older unversioned generated folders such as maddog-sound-compat-native-2024 or maddog-sound-compat-msfs2020 still require one manual move out of Community. Never delete either paid source package.
What changed
- Encrypted fingerprints:
maddog-sound-fix.exe fingerprint --output <absent-zip>creates one issue-safe outer ZIP containing a public version/hash header and age-encrypted XML, model, and offset-free Wwise evidence. The command never uploads anything. Attach only the generated ZIP—not either paid package or decrypted evidence. - Five-pin source identity: exact target and package versions are now identified by five representative SHA-256 pins: IA XML/PCK plus Leonardo XML/main PCK/exterior glTF. PNF, current crew, and interior model files remain operational parser inputs. Modified purchased packages remain unsupported and user-owned.
- Simpler automatic upgrades: the installer completes and validates a hidden candidate, authorizes old versioned output through its exact name and minimal same-target marker, recursively deletes that tool-owned directory, then publishes the candidate. Current
v3.0.0marker extras remain accepted but are no longer deletion authority. - One executable: the separate private fingerprint collector and its workflow are removed. Installation and fingerprint collection are subcommands of the Windows CLI.
Supported versions
- Native MSFS 2024: Leonardo 2.1.282 or 2.1.283 with Immersive Audio 1.0.0.
- MSFS 2020: Leonardo 2.0.281 with Immersive Audio 1.0.0.
MSFS 2020 remains runtime-unverified by the maintainer. The Windows executable remains unsigned, so verify the published SHA-256 before running it.

Maddog Sound Fix v3.0.0
This release adds Leonardo 2.1.283 support and replaces the multi-step command workflow with automatic Community detection and installation.
Before updating
Current users must close the simulator and manually move their existing unversioned generated package out of Community, usually maddog-sound-compat-native-2024 or maddog-sound-compat-msfs2020 before running the new installer. The installer refuses to co-load a normal marked legacy folder of either recommended v2 linked name with a fresh versioned package; a differently named custom linked legacy package must still be moved out manually.
Do not merge the new package into an older one. Never delete either paid source package.
What changed
- Automatic installation: double-click
Install Maddog Sound Fix.bator runmaddog-sound-fix.exe install. One process detects supported Store/Steam Community locations, validates the exact Leonardo and IA package folders, and performs the locked installation. - Versioned package names: new installs use
maddog-ia-sound-fix-<version>. A later installer removes an older version-stamped package only when its current-catalog marker, payload hash, metadata, exact tree, and physical identity all pass. A catalog-changing release stops and requires moving the older generated folder out of Community manually. - Leonardo 2.1.283: native MSFS 2024 now supports Leonardo 2.1.282 or 2.1.283 with IA 1.0.0.
- Official exhaust placement: generated 2.1.282 exhaust sound points now match Leonardo's official 2.1.283 positions. Leonardo 2.1.283 already contains those points and needs no model override.
- Simpler CLI: the old
overlayandchoicescommands are removed.install --dry-runvalidates without writing, and path/target/output overrides remain available.
The Windows executable remains unsigned.

Maddog Sound Fix v2.0.1
This hotfix accepts legitimate Leonardo Manager crew selections that provide only the duration entries used by that crew.
What changed
crew_pck.inimay contain any non-empty subset of the same eight recognised duration names.- Unknown names, duplicate names, bad sections, missing all durations, invalid values, zero or negative values, and overflow still fail validation.
- Crew-bank structure, source-file checks, generated sound behavior, package contents, and supported add-on versions are unchanged.
Who needs this update
Install this version if overlay check failed with:
crew duration INI does not contain exactly eight approved keys
Users whose existing v2.0.0 package works do not need to rebuild it. Use the new executable for future checks and builds.
Supported versions
- Native MSFS 2024: Leonardo 2.1.282 with Immersive Audio 1.0.0.
- MSFS 2020: Leonardo 2.0.281 with Immersive Audio 1.0.0.
MSFS 2020 remains runtime-unverified by the maintainer. The Windows executable remains unsigned, so verify the published SHA-256 before running it.

Maddog Sound Fix v2.0.0
This release fixes APU playback across camera changes and makes the normal build-and-install path simpler.
What changed
- APU playback continuity: in native MSFS 2024, APU startup, steady running, shutdown, and open-window playback now continue correctly when switching between cockpit and outside views.
- Directly installable output: the folder created by
overlay build --outputis now the complete Community package. There is no extra wrapper folder, build report, or source-hash file. - Clearer commands: normal help focuses on
overlay checkandoverlay build. Optional family-choice commands remain available through--show-admin --help. - Safer compatibility checks: the tool recognises the supported Leonardo Manager and GSX metadata changes while continuing to reject changed sound, bank, model, and configuration payloads.
Before upgrading from v1.0.0
- Remove the old generated Maddog Sound Fix package from Community and build a fresh one. Do not merge the new package into the old one.
- Saved ownership files created by v1.0.0 are not compatible with this release. Advanced users must export their choices again with the new executable.
- The supported paid-package versions have not changed.
Supported versions
- Native MSFS 2024: Leonardo 2.1.282 with Immersive Audio 1.0.0.
- MSFS 2020: Leonardo 2.0.281 with Immersive Audio 1.0.0.
MSFS 2020 remains runtime-unverified by the maintainer and may need the generated package ordered after Leonardo. The Windows executable remains unsigned, so verify the published SHA-256 before running it.

Initial release
Maddog Sound Fix establishes the first public Windows command-line baseline for building a separate sound compatibility overlay from supported Leonardo Fly the Maddog X and Immersive Audio installations already owned by the user.
Included in this baseline
- Checks the exact supported package versions before producing output.
- Builds a separate Community overlay without editing either purchased package in place.
- Lists and searches all supported sound families from the embedded catalog.
- Uses the embedded Immersive Audio proposal by default and supports current command-line customization with repeatable
--owner family=providerchoices. - Exports canonical choices for reuse with the same target and tool/catalog version.
- Keeps each overlapping sound family with one provider rather than layering both.
- Uses IA throughout the compatible baseline, with only two isolated IA gaps falling back to Leonardo: cockpit-door motion and the fast approach-minimums warning. Leonardo's crew/PNF, three-perspective mechanic call, and aircraft-specific sounds remain intentionally Leonardo-owned.
- Fails closed on changed source files, unsafe paths, malformed inputs, stale ownership documents, and an existing output target.
- Reports generated overlay edit counts and target-specific runtime-evidence status.
The download contains only the MIT-licensed versioned Windows command-line tool and its flightsimmer README, including project and third-party license notices. It contains no Leonardo or Immersive Audio assets and no generated overlay. Users who previously applied a sound conversion such as Finnisher's script must restore stock supported Leonardo/IA packages before validation and local building.
Supported versions and evidence limits
- Native MSFS 2024: Leonardo 2.1.282 with Immersive Audio 1.0.0.
- MSFS 2020: Leonardo 2.0.281 with Immersive Audio 1.0.0.
- Native MSFS 2024 reports family-level evidence; this is not a claim that broad simulator runtime smoke testing has passed.
- MSFS 2020 is runtime-unverified because the project owner does not own that simulator. Its generated package will likely need to load after Leonardo.
- Other add-on versions and simulator targets are unsupported.
- The executable is unsigned and may prompt Windows SmartScreen.
- Installation, package ordering, and removal are manual; there is no installer or uninstaller.
- The tool does not discover installations and never modifies purchased source packages in place.
Roadmap
Potential owner-approved follow-up work focuses on easier placement and removal, clearer runtime evidence, broader runtime validation, diagnostics, and signing.
Read README.md from the ZIP before running the tool, especially the checksum, exact package-root, separate-output, replace-not-merge installation, MSFS 2020, and safe-diagnostics guidance.
