navigator.vibrate - works on iOS Safari

Incorrect support data (example: BrowserX says "86" but support was added in "40")

Navigator's vibrate functionality works on iOS Safari now. I'm not entirely sure when this was supported, I last tested around 2023. At the time of writing, it works. Tested on iPhone on this site that popped up on Lobste.rs https://haptics.lochie.me/

What did you expect to see?

No vibration pattern on iOS Safari, as mentioned on https://caniuse.com/mdn-api_navigator_vibrate and https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Vibration_API#browser_compatibility

Yes, iOS Safari on https://haptics.lochie.me/ which calls navigator.vibrate()

I'm not sure what version of Safari I have, iOS doesn't seem to make it easy to find. But it's a non-beta build of iOS on the latest version.

hmm maybe, I checked the source and it seems to call navigator.vibrate() - will dig a bit, I'm not sure how it could polyfill unless it hacks around with some inputs that vibrate on ios.

edit: ahhhh maybe, this is a devious hack

this uses the <input type="checkbox" switch /> (introduced in safari 17.4), which has haptic feedback when toggled

Yes, correct, it polyfills by checks notes creating an invisible switch, programmatically switching it, which causes a vibration to happen...

AI could never make this up...
