Release list
CleanFrame TV 0.2.0
What's new
Assign remote buttons on the TV. Settings → Android TV → Remote buttons now lets you give a new job to buttons that normally only open the TV maker's choice, such as Xiaomi's Mi and Netflix keys, without a computer:
- The first time, choose Turn on remote buttons and switch on CleanFrame TV remote buttons in Android's Accessibility settings.
- Add a button, press it on the remote, and pick the app or HDMI input it should open.
- Choose an assigned button to change or remove it.
Arrows, OK, Back, Home, volume and power keep their jobs and can't be assigned. Assignments made from a computer in 0.1.0 carry over.
Install or update
adb install -r CleanFrameTV-0.2.0.apkUpdating from 0.1.0 keeps your settings. For a first install, see the install guide.

CleanFrame TV 0.1.0
First release of CleanFrame TV, an Android TV port of CleanFrame by Nathan Clark: a quieter home screen with your apps and HDMI inputs, a photograph and the time, made for the remote.
What's in it
- List or Dock layout over a photograph or a light/dark background; fifteen built-in wallpapers or the Bing photo of the day (optional; the only network use).
- Photo mode: just the photo, the clock and its caption; any key brings Home back.
- HDMI inputs as Home entries that open the input directly, with your own names.
- All apps, Apps on Home (up to nine), hold OK on an app to close it.
- Optional remote-button remapping for vendor keys (e.g. Xiaomi's Mi and Netflix buttons), 24/12-hour clock, Back never leaves Home.
Install
adb connect <tv-address>:5555
adb install CleanFrameTV-0.1.0.apk
adb shell cmd package set-home-activity io.github.mdrzn.cleanframetv/.HomeActivity
adb shell input keyevent KEYCODE_HOMESee the install guide for naming inputs, remote buttons and how to go back to your previous launcher.
Tested on
Xiaomi Mi TV Q1 (Android TV 10, 1.8 GB RAM). Other Android TV devices (8.0+) should work but are untested; reports are welcome.
Known limitations
- HDMI input names and remote-button assignments are set from a computer (ADB), not yet on the TV.
- Apps that keep a foreground service (for example SmartTube's phone-remote link) keep running after hold-to-close.
- Xiaomi TVs reopen the last HDMI input over the home screen at power-on if it was still active.
- The launcher uses about 165 MB (PSS) including its WebView.

Future releases are signed with the same key, so they install over this one.
