Metamorphosis 1.3.0

Drag a file, tap a key, drop it on the ring. This release trims the rings to what people actually use and adds the everyday tools that were missing.

The Windows installer isn't code-signed yet: if SmartScreen appears, choose More info → Run anyway.

New

• Resize images: by percent, to a width or height, or to fit inside a box.
• Rotate and flip images and videos. One drop rotates right; the ring window offers left, 180° and flips.
• Mute videos: the picture is copied as is, so it's fast and lossless.
• PDF tools: Split (one page per file, or every N pages), Page numbers, Watermark, Protect with a password (AES-256) and Unlock.
• Markdown, HTML and TXT → PDF (uses pandoc and LibreOffice).
• Images → ICO for favicons and app icons (16–256 px in one file).

Removed

To keep the ring short, these are gone: PDF → PPTX / EPUB / XLSX, images → BMP / GIF, video → AVI / WMV, audio → OGG / AIFF / WMA, audio Bleep and Channels, TAR, and the Copy action. Files in those old formats still open, and tools keep them in their own format. On Windows, ZIP is the only archive format created (TAR.GZ stays on Linux).

Strip metadata moved into Metadata (the STRIP ALL button); the "Web ready" recipe and morph tool strip still work.

Fixes

• The ring closes when you click outside it.
• Saved recipes can no longer change meaning when the ring is reordered.
• Passwords are never written to history.

What's new since 1.1

• Runs quietly in the tray. No window on start-up. Click the tray icon (or start the app again) to open Settings.
• Simpler Settings, written in plain words: keys, colour, how new files are named, what the ring shows, watch folders.
• Linux packages: AppImage (with delta updates through zsync) and .deb.
• Fixes
  • Command recipes on Linux.
  • Local AI tools on Linux (now ONNX Runtime 1.23.2).
  • Parallel jobs no longer share temp folders.
  • LibreOffice conversions can run in parallel.
  • HEIC/AVIF is only offered when the computer can decode it.
  • A recipe saved while the app starts is no longer missed.
