What's new

• PortMaster ports. Add it with Add source → PortMaster. It lists the same catalog PortMaster installs from, grouped like PortMaster's own menu: Featured ports, All ports and Ready to run. Only ports built for your device and allowed on your firmware are shown.
• Port pages. Press A on a port to see its screenshot and cover (←→), porters, genres and description (↑↓). For ports that aren't ready to run, the page says which files to copy from your own copy of the game. Press A again to install it.
• Installed like PortMaster does it. The launch script and the game folder go where PortMaster puts them, and PortMaster lists the port as its own. Runtimes the port needs (Godot, Mono, Java and others) are downloaded into PortMaster/libs first, unless you already have them. Downloads are checked against the catalog's MD5.
• Catalog kept on the device. The port list is saved next to the app and downloaded again only when it changes on GitHub. Without a connection, the saved list opens.

PortMaster itself must be installed: it comes with ROCKNIX and muOS.

Fixes

• Fixed a rare crash while the PICO-8 list was loading.

What's new

• PICO-8 carts from the Lexaloffle BBS. Add it with Add source → PICO-8. It lists every featured cart plus the newest releases of the Cartridges forum, about 600 carts, and needs no account. Carts are saved as .p8.png files named after the game, the same files SPLORE downloads.
• Cart pages. Press A on a cart to see its label, the pictures from its forum post (←→) and the author's description (↑↓). Press A again to download it.
• Carts go into pico-8 on ROCKNIX, PICO8 on muOS and PICO on stock. If you already have a PICO-8 folder, it's reused.

Running the carts on ROCKNIX

ROCKNIX launches PICO-8 carts with the official PICO-8 by default, which you have to buy. Copy pico8_64 and pico8.dat from the Raspberry Pi download into roms/pico-8/aarch64/. If you don't have PICO-8, switch the system to the free fake-08 core in Game settings → Per system advanced configuration.

• THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt now puts Go's license under its own heading.

What's new

• Nine languages: English, Русский, Українська, Беларуская, Polski, Español, Português, 简体中文 and 繁體中文.
• Language picker: the new Language item on the main screen lets you follow the firmware (Automatic) or pick any language. The switch is instant, no restart needed.
• Follows your firmware's language: it's read from the ROCKNIX and muOS settings, not only $LANG.
• Chinese text uses subsets of Noto Sans SC and TC (OFL), so Simplified and Traditional characters each get their own glyph shapes.

Translations were made by the developer. Corrections from native speakers are very welcome: the files are in internal/ui/locales/.

• After an in-app update, the app now greets you with "Updated to v0.1.2", so you can see at a glance that the update went through.

What's new

• In-app updates. The app checks for new releases on startup and can download, verify (SHA-256) and install them, then restart itself. You won't have to copy files to the SD card again. You can turn the check off with "disable_update_check": true in config.json.
• itch.io QR sign-in is built in. It starts working as soon as itch.io approves the app. Until then an API key in config.json still works, and the app now explains this clearly.
• Support the project. A new menu item shows a QR code for Buy Me a Coffee ☕
• Packages now include LICENSE (GPL-3.0-or-later) next to THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt.

What's in it

• Sources: RomM (found on the network, paired by QR code), SMB network folders, HTTP directory listings, archive.org search, and free homebrew from itch.io.
• Everything is set up on the device: add and remove sources, network discovery, and an on-screen keyboard.
• One row per game: regional versions, revisions, betas and hacks are grouped, and the version matching your language and region is picked automatically.
• Knows your firmware: games go into the right ROM folder on muOS, ROCKNIX and stock, including folders you already have.
• Download queue: resumes after sleep or a lost connection, checks free space, and unpacks disc images and NDS games.
• Dual screen: on the RG DS the bottom screen shows the potato and download progress.
• Button setup wizard for pads with a missing or wrong SDL mapping.

The muOS build and the RG34XX stock build have not been tested on hardware yet. Reports are welcome.

Known limitations

• itch.io: downloads need a sign-in. QR login is waiting for itch.io's approval of the OAuth app. Until then, put an itch.io API key into the token field of the itch.io source in config.json.
• SMB: credentials are stored in plain text in config.json on the SD card.

Jubilant Potato doesn't ship or link to any games. Use it with your own dumps, homebrew and free releases.
