Omori, drawn in pencil

OMORI runs on eight consoles: PSP, PS Vita, 3DS, Wii, Wii U, PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360. Grab the builder for your
computer, point it at your copy of the game, pick a console, and you get the files to put on it.

Important

Nothing from the game is in these downloads. The builder only works with your own copy of OMORI 1.0.8 from
Steam.

What's new

A border around the game

The black bars beside the game now show OMORI's scrolling space background, with a frame around the picture. It's on
by default, and BORDER in the options turns it off.

Confirm with ○

On the PSP, PS Vita, PS3 and PS2, a new row in the options swaps which button confirms and which cancels. On the PSP,
PS Vita and PS3 it starts on the console's own setting.

A light bulb while loading

When a black screen takes more than a third of a second to load, OMORI's light bulb glows in the bottom right corner,
so a long load doesn't look like a freeze.

The PSP

  • Lag: the PSP decoded music on its audio thread, which held up the game for 10 to 16 ms of every 23 ms in menus.
Music now decodes on its own thread, so menus and the map no longer lag.
  • Saving: saves are written with a fraction of the memory, so saving no longer crashes the game when memory is
low, as it did at MARI's picnic.
  • Battles: a battle no longer crashes to the XMB when memory gets fragmented.
  • PSP-1000: the fight with Abbi fits in memory now, with every sprite and line of text. The builder adds 8-bit
copies of the largest images for it, which makes the EBOOT.PBP about 60 MB bigger.

Fixes

  • Every console: events that run another map's event work on every map. Before, most of them were skipped, which
froze the scene with MARI at the forest playground (#9).
  • Every console: the naming screen accepts letters again, so you can get past naming SUNNY (#11).
  • Xbox 360: New Game no longer crashes (#3). GCC 16.2 miscompiled parts of the engine with one of its
optimizations (GCSE), which is now turned off for the 360.
  • PS Vita: enemies and their attacks show up in battle again (#6). When graphics memory fills up, the game frees
cached images instead of leaving sprites out, and the PS3 now does the same.
  • PS2: the iso boots in PCSX2 (#10), and the game reads its data faster.
  • Wii: the playground no longer runs slowly (#8). The game reads its data straight off the SD card or USB drive.

Saves from earlier versions keep working.

How to use it

  1. Unpack the download and run omori-builder. Double-clicking works: it finds OMORI in your Steam library, asks
for the folder if it can't, asks which console you want, and then asks where to save.
  2. Wait a few minutes while it builds.
  3. Put what it made on your console:
Console What you get What you need Install
PSP EBOOT.PBP, about 1.6 GB Any PSP with custom firmware, or PPSSPP Copy the PSP folder to the memory stick
PS Vita OMORI.vpk and a data folder, about 2.2 GB PS Vita or PS TV with HENkaku or Ensō and VitaShell, or Vita3K Copy data to ux0:, install the vpk with VitaShell
3DS omori.3dsx, about 1.6 GB Any 3DS or 2DS with custom firmware and the Homebrew Launcher, or Azahar Copy the 3ds folder to the SD card
Wii An apps/omori folder, about 2.2 GB Wii or Wii U (Wii mode) with the Homebrew Channel, or Dolphin Copy the apps folder to a FAT32 SD card or USB drive
Wii U omori.wuhb and omori.pak in a wiiu/apps/omori folder, about 2.2 GB Wii U with Aroma, or Cemu Copy the wiiu folder to the SD card; OMORI shows up on the Wii U Menu
PS3 OMORI.pkg, about 2.2 GB PS3 with custom firmware or PS3HEN Package Manager, Install Package Files, from a FAT32 USB drive
PS2 OMORI.iso, about 2.8 GB PS2 with Open PS2 Loader, or PCSX2 Put the iso in OPL's DVD folder
Xbox 360 xenon.elf and an omori folder, about 2.2 GB Xbox 360 with RGH or JTAG and XeLL, or with the Peer Pressure softmod and its XeLL extra Copy both to the root of a FAT32 USB drive and boot XeLL (with Peer Pressure, power on with the eject button)

The title screen of this release shows v44e3263 under the game's version.

Warning

The Wii U build runs in Cemu but hasn't been tried on a real Wii U yet. No emulator can run the Xbox 360 build, and
the fix for its New Game crash hasn't been tried on a real 360 yet.

Note

The builder isn't signed, so the first launch needs one extra click.

Windows: if SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway.

macOS: if it says the app can't be opened, go to System Settings, then Privacy & Security, and click Open
Anyway next to omori-builder. Or run xattr -d com.apple.quarantine omori-builder in the folder once.

Checking the download

SHA256SUMS.txt has the checksum of every file. On Linux or macOS:

shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing

On Windows, certutil -hashfile omori-builder-44e3263-windows-x64.zip SHA256 prints it to compare by hand.

Omori, drawn in pencil

OMORI now runs on eight consoles: PSP, PS Vita, 3DS, Wii, Wii U, PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360. Grab the builder for your
computer, point it at your copy of the game, pick a console, and you get the files to put on it.

Important

Nothing from the game is in these downloads. The builder only works with your own copy of OMORI 1.0.8 from
Steam.

What's new

Wii U

The eighth console. The builder makes omori.wuhb and omori.pak for a Wii U running Aroma, or for Cemu. OMORI gets
its own icon on the Wii U Menu and plays on the TV and the GamePad at the same time, with the full 640x480 artwork
scaled up sharply on both. The GamePad, Pro Controller, Classic Controller and Wii Remote all work, and saves stay next
to the game on the SD card.

PSP-1000

The first PSP model, with half the memory of the later ones, now runs the game. On it the game keeps its images in
16-bit color and holds fewer of them at once, so it loads more often than a PSP-2000 or 3000. In PPSSPP, set the PSP
model to PSP-1000 in the system settings to play it that way.

The 3DS touch screen

The bottom screen is now a second menu that's always open while you walk around. The party page shows every kid with
their face, level, heart and juice, and marks the leader; tap a kid to tag them in. The SNACKS, TOYS and IMPORTANT pages
list your items with their descriptions; tap a snack or toy, then a kid, to use it. Drag a list to scroll it. The bottom
screen goes dark during menus, battles and other screens away from the map, and comes back when you return.

Battles

In v1.1.0, ATTACK used RPG Maker's stock attack instead of each kid's own. It played no animation, hit for about twice
the damage it should, and HERO's attack ignored CLAM. Now the battle menu comes from the game's command lists: every
kid attacks with their own skill and animation, damage matches the PC version, and AUBREY, KEL and HERO use their
real-world attacks in the fights outside Headspace.

Fixes

  • PS3 and PS2: a script error no longer freezes the game.
  • 3DS: music keeps playing smoothly while the game reads from the SD card.
  • Wii: memory is counted correctly and textures no longer fragment it, so it runs out of memory less often.
  • Every console: scenes that load their own pictures, like the one that plays when you tag a friend, no longer hang
waiting for them. Event scripts that check which screen is open no longer stop with an error.
  • Faster: fonts load before a text box opens, so dialogue starts sooner. When memory runs out, the game drops images
one at a time instead of all at once, so it stutters less.
