Hoistbay 1.1.1

Hoistbay is a free, open-source desktop app for Amazon S3 and CloudFront.
Your keys stay in your OS keychain, and the app talks to nobody but AWS.

What's new in 1.1.1

  • New name and icon: S3 Scout is now Hoistbay.
  • Downloads are now Hoistbay-macOS.zip and Hoistbay-Windows.zip; the Windows app is hoistbay.exe.
  • If you used an earlier build, add your AWS profile again once (the app has a new identifier).

Highlights

  • Header rules on upload: set Cache-Control and other headers per bucket by file pattern (e.g. *.js, *.html), applied automatically to every upload.
  • CloudFront cache clearing: invalidate /* or specific paths and follow it until it says "Cache cleared".
  • Activity panel: live progress and history for uploads, downloads, deletes and cache clears.
  • Uploads and downloads: drag and drop files or several folders at once with the folder structure kept; download single files or whole folders.
  • Bulk changes: rename, move, delete, and copy across buckets and regions.
  • Multiple AWS accounts: profiles with session-token support and automatic bucket-region detection.
  • Object inspector: properties, headers, tags and versions; edit metadata in place.

Fixed

  • Delete now reports per-object failures instead of silently succeeding.
  • Folder upload includes files at the top level of the folder.
  • Search text is cleared when you move to another folder or bucket.

First launch

The builds aren't code-signed yet, so your OS asks before opening them:

  • macOS: move Hoistbay to Applications, then right-click it → Open → Open. If you only see "Move to Trash", go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
  • Windows: unzip and run hoistbay.exe. If SmartScreen appears, click More info → Run anyway.
