Profile and Account Menu
Last Updated: 2026-10-09 | For: Students, Teachers, Admins
The Account menu is the top-right menu in the authenticated MoFaCTS app. Use Profile from that menu to manage your visible account identity and your personal OpenRouter configuration.
These settings are for ordinary accounts. Passwordless study participants are restricted to their assigned experiment and cannot read, save, test or delete personal OpenRouter settings.
The Account menu shows your avatar, display name, and role. It also links to Profile, Audio settings, theme selection, teacher selection, Help, Tour, Documentation, and Log out.
Choose Language in the top-right Account menu, or change the interface language on Profile. The choice is saved for your account. Read any inline error before assuming it saved.
Your interface language changes platform labels and messages. It does not translate lesson questions, answers, feedback, or knowledge-component names. The locale catalog includes English, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, French, Bengali, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Urdu. English is marked enabled in the source catalog; the other translations are marked draft. Arabic and Urdu use a right-to-left interface. A language choice does not enable the microphone or change a lesson's speech-recognition language.
Profile shows your email as read-only account information. Email is used for login and is not shown as your public label when a display name is set.
You can also set your private name. This is for personal communications and is not intended as your public display label.
Your display name is the public name shown in your Account menu and other user-facing identity surfaces.
Creating or uploading content requires a public display name. It may be anonymous. Lessons can show this creator name and avatar; your private name and email are separate account fields.
Your avatar can be one of:
- initials from your display name
- a selected icon
- an uploaded profile picture
Uploaded profile pictures are resized before saving. The saved avatar is used by the Account menu. If you remove or replace a picture, stale picture data is cleared when you save Profile.
Profile includes personal OpenRouter settings for AutoTutor and AI-assisted content creation workflows:
- OpenRouter API key
- OpenRouter model used when the content does not supply its own model
- reasoning controls supported by the selected model
- configuration test
Reasoning controls follow the selected model's capabilities. Models with an on/off reasoning mode show a checkbox, models with selectable reasoning effort show only their supported effort choices, and models without an editable reasoning setting show no control.
Save changes to the model and reasoning setting together. A default shown by an editor does not establish that it has been saved. Requests validate the configured model and reasoning level against the current model catalog; an unavailable model or unsupported setting produces an error that requires correction.
Choose an explicit provider/model identifier for the workflow. A missing lesson model does not establish that a particular named model will be selected automatically; profile and administrator configuration participate in resolving the effective model.
OpenRouter may use another compatible provider for the selected model when the first provider is unavailable. This keeps the selected model unchanged while improving request availability.
The API key field is password-style. The key is stored encrypted on the MoFaCTS server and returned to the browser for client-side OpenRouter requests. You can replace it by entering a new key and saving, or delete it from Profile.
The configuration test sends a tiny test request directly from the browser. It does not send lesson content.
