The Menga Entertainment System (MES) is a cartridge-based video game console. Both MES Software, Hardware, as well as any official games are open source.

Introduction

Human input to the console is provided by up to four controllers simultaneously, connected using a USB cable with a female USB-A connector on the console front and a female USB-B connector on the controller. Power needs to be supplied externally by any 5V power supply capable of at least 500mA of current draw (extensions may require more power). The power supply is connected to a female USB-B port on the console rear. The video output is a standard 640x480@60Hz VGA signal through the female VGA connector on the rear.

MES supports up to two extension modules, connected by 20 pins each on the right side of the console.

SD cards serve as game cartridges, where each cartridge holds one game. After inserting the SD card into the intended slot on the left console side, the game can be started with a button click.
