Sessions takes command 🎛️

v0.15.0 celebrates the recent quality-of-life updates that turn Codexometer from a companion display into a Codex session command centre. This release completes the transition with clearer naming and documentation; several capabilities below arrived during the 0.14.x series.

New in this release

  • Monitor is now Sessions. A compact tab name for following activity, inspecting context and interacting with eligible live sessions.
  • SESSION TOTALS replaces MONITOR READOUT, clarifying the aggregate tokens, elapsed time and average rate.
  • Consistent across languages and terminal sizes. All 17 locale options use the new labels; narrow tabs show SES/S while preserving their activity indicator and click targets.
  • Existing preferences keep working. A saved Monitor selection opens Sessions, without a migration or changes to session actions and shortcuts.
  • Refreshed README and intro post. Clearer session command-centre positioning, Fast-mode estimation guidance and terminal keyboard-compatibility notes.

The QoL milestone: highlights from the recent releases

  • A session view that fits your work: select with Up/Down and adjust detail with Left/Right or clickable arrows, from graph-only through split and wide detail to full screen. Escape backs out predictably.
  • Respond without hunting through CLI tabs: inspect supported command approvals, answer supported questions in full detail, and send follow-ups from full detail or a roomy selected-session row. Inline drafts wrap and scroll without covering context.
  • Approvals that adapt: a highlighted detail link appears when a request cannot fit safely above the buttons. Enlarging the terminal or dismissing another row restores inline controls when space permits; stale answered requests do not regain misleading warnings.
  • Deliberate, easier confirmation: one-time approval can use its number twice, with a key release between presses, where Kitty keyboard-protocol event support is detected. Held-key repeats are ignored. C remains an alternative and the fallback on unsupported terminals; broader grants retain C or click confirmation. Armed confirmations expire after five seconds.
  • Less visual clutter: steady status text with a blinking WORKING ball, content-specific detail headings, subtle activity dots, and brief sent-message acknowledgements. Pause/Resume remains on p; it pauses measurement, not Codex.
  • Pick up where you left off: remember the main tab and Quota view separately. Restoring a tab does not restart benchmarks or reopen approval dialogs. Per-session layouts, selection and dismissals remain temporary and are roadmap items.
  • More expressive estimates and language choices: requested Fast-mode premiums for maintained Astra/GPT-5.6 pricing, with explicit uncertainty rather than claiming confirmed charges; 16 languages across 17 locale options, including both Portuguese variants and Danish.

Requirements and safety: live replies and approvals require eligible sessions connected through the shared local Codex app-server. Ordinary CLI sessions retain best-effort local monitoring. Passive observation does not start model turns; sending a follow-up does consume model usage. Windows Terminal 1.24 with WSL and Apple's built-in Terminal.app use C confirmation; enhanced keyboard support is optional, not a requirement for using Codexometer.

Upgrade

Quit Codexometer, rerun the installer, and reopen it. Saved presentation preferences are retained. Your Codex sessions do not need to restart.

macOS / Linux / WSL

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/merefield/codexometer/main/install-release.sh | sh

If you chose a custom CODEXOMETER_BIN_DIR, use that same directory when upgrading. Ensure it remains on PATH.

Windows PowerShell

$installer = Join-Path ([IO.Path]::GetTempPath()) "install-codexometer.ps1"
Invoke-WebRequest https://raw.githubusercontent.com/merefield/codexometer/main/install-release.ps1 -OutFile $installer
Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope Process Bypass -Force
& $installer
Remove-Item $installer

The execution-policy override applies only to that PowerShell process. Inspect the script first if required by your security policy.

Or install from source with Go 1.26.6 or later:

go install github.com/merefield/codexometer@v0.15.0

Verify with codexometer --version (expected 0.15.0). Prebuilt binaries cover Linux, macOS and Windows on amd64 and arm64, with SHA-256 checksums.
