GLanSync 0.6.7

Choose a tag to compare

@mertcanmerkit mertcanmerkit released this 07 Sep 10:40

GLanSync is free during launch. If you support it now, you're counted as already paid, and you keep it for good whatever the price becomes later.

What changed in 0.6.7

The support message used to appear at launch, before you had done anything. It now appears only after you have actually used the app: a sync session you ran for at least a minute and then stopped yourself, and only after two of those, and never more than once a week. It never appears during an update wall, and never again once you have said you donated.

Nothing else about syncing changed.

GLanSync 0.6.6

@mertcanmerkit mertcanmerkit released this 02 Sep 13:44

Wider Govee device support: light bars, TV backlights, panels

GLanSync 0.6.6 adds a Device Layout for each light in your group (Settings → Device Output), so screen sync can follow the shape of your setup instead of treating every device as one strip around the monitor:

  • Light-bar pairs (H6046, H6047, H6048, H6056): choose which bar is first and which way its segments run. The preview lights the first bar red, the second blue, and the first segment of each bar white — keep the choice that matches what you see.
  • TV backlight loops (strips wrapped around a TV — M1, H6167, H6168 kits): choose where segment 1 starts (any corner, or bottom center) and whether it runs clockwise or counter-clockwise. The preview fades from red at the start to blue at the end.
  • Panel arrays (Glide Hexa / Hexa Pro / Hexa Ultra / Tri / Y / Wall): drag each numbered panel to where it sits around your screen; click a panel to flash it on the real lights so you know which one it is. Panels are addressed one color per panel.
  • Segments override per device (1–255): panel kits and rope lengths vary per purchase, and Govee lights never report their segment count over the network.

Honest status: Govee devices report how many segments they have, never where they sit, so every layout is your choice, previewed on the lights — nothing is auto-detected. Light-bar pairs get the bars layout by default (their segment order is verified in open-source projects); panels and TV loops start on the previous single-strip behavior until you pick a layout. The layouts were verified end-to-end against simulated devices, not yet on real bars or panels: if a preview does not match your lights, email support@glansync.com with your model and what you saw.

Also in this release:

  • Corrected segment counts backed by hardware reports: H6046, H6047, H6168 and H619A now stream 20 segments (bar pairs are 2 × 10). If you own one of these, screen sync now addresses both bars / the whole strip instead of mirroring or leaving an end dark.
  • New realtime profiles: H6048 (Gaming Light Bars Pro) and H6167 (TV backlight).
  • Music sync, scenes and static colors follow the chosen layout too (left-to-right motions land on the left bar, and so on).
  • The Gaming Light Strip G1 (H6609) path is unchanged and is now pinned by byte-exact regression tests.

GLanSync 0.6.5

Choose a tag to compare

@mertcanmerkit mertcanmerkit released this 02 Sep 10:56

Intel Macs now supported

GLanSync 0.6.5 adds a native Intel (x64) build for macOS. Until now the Mac app was Apple Silicon only; if you have an Intel MacBook, iMac or Mac mini running macOS 13 or later, download GLanSync-mac-x64.dmg (or the .zip) below.

Honest status: the Intel build is produced from the same code as the Apple Silicon build and was checked under Rosetta on an Apple Silicon Mac (launch, device discovery against simulated Govee devices, telemetry). It has not yet been run on real Intel hardware — that test is next. If something misbehaves on your Intel Mac, please email support@glansync.com; screen sync is the priority, and system-audio music sync on macOS stays experimental (the app tells you when capture is unavailable, and Microphone mode always works).

Two small fixes found while testing the Intel build, applied to every platform:

  • Capture sources are now listed in two steps (displays, then windows). The combined listing could hit a fatal error inside Electron on the Intel build; the list you see is unchanged.
  • The screen-capture request handler now answers exactly once, so a rejected experimental system-audio request degrades to a clear message instead of an internal error.

Otherwise the Apple Silicon and Windows builds are the 0.6.4 feature set rebuilt as 0.6.5.

Which Mac download?

GLanSync 0.6.4

Choose a tag to compare

@mertcanmerkit mertcanmerkit released this 24 Aug 12:09

What's new

GLanSync is free during launch. Your 7-day trial ending no longer matters — every feature keeps working, free, while the launch period lasts. The app now says so instead of going quiet about it.

Support the project (optional). GLanSync is built by one international student. If it makes your setup nicer, you can support development with a small donation — and here's the promise, in writing: if GLanSync ever becomes paid, donors count as already paid. Donate with the email you'd want your license under; that email is the record.

  • Trial-ended screen now tells you the app stays free (and how to support it)
  • New "Support GLanSync" section in Settings → License
  • "I already donated" hides every support prompt permanently
  • Support prompts are gentle: at most once every 3 days during a trial

@mertcanmerkit mertcanmerkit released this 18 Aug 14:29

What's new

Visible update notice. When a newer GLanSync exists, the main window now shows a small banner — previously the notice was buried in Settings → License where nobody saw it.

Update wall. If a version ever ships with a serious defect (like 0.6.1's sync bug), we can now mark it unsupported: that version shows an "Update required" screen with a one-click download of the fix. Day-to-day nothing changes — the screen only appears if a version is explicitly marked, no new data is collected, and your lights are never trapped: power, brightness, stop and quit always keep working from the tray.
