Metrocard is the smart-card ticketing system in use in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is operated by Environment Canterbury.

There are two card generations in active use:

  1. MIFARE Classic card system, built by ERG. These are purple (like what is pictured above).

Metrodroid implements support for it in v2.9.33.

These cards are no longer available for purchase as of 2016.

  2. DESFire EV1 with no open files, built by INIT. These have artwork on them.

This card format is not supportable. A future version of Metrodroid will detect these and act accordingly.

Both generations of the card still work on the agency's new readers supplied by INIT.

Note: Environment Canterbury also have a Timaru Metrocard. It is probably similar to the Christchurch Metrocard, but no samples of it have been obtained by the developers.
