video-9x16: release-notes-9x16.mp4
video-16x9: release-notes-16x9.mp4
videobuilder can now do 923 more things by name, each with its own short demo, and the note box finds the right one for what you describe.
- 923 new capabilities in ten families: particles and generative, UI and interaction, typography, broadcast graphics, animation principles, visual effects, shapes and icons, transitions, camera moves and sound. Ask for one by name ("a dip to black", "an odometer roll") or describe it.
- The Capabilities page shows each family inside its category, with a page of its own. Every one also plays in the public gallery: https://mgalgs.io/videobuilder/
- Suggestions search every capability as you type a note. The picker has a search box, families fold into one row, and a strong suggestion says why it fits.
- New video is just a name. Your first note, typed in the editor, starts the build; the timeline's "+" plans a clip, acts, a song or a dropped video.
- Links in any note are read, and a linked page brings its images, colours and fonts, so "use this page's look" works. SVG images work as attachments.
- Delete a video from the Share tab; it goes to the trash and an admin can restore it.
- When a version fails to load, the editor says why and still lets you go back.
- A terminal log that types and prints with its own sounds, italic fonts, and faster renders for videos with lots of sound effects.
Bokeh: Sound effects, type and a stick figure
Videos can now make sound, set words in style and star a stick figure, and the note box suggests what fits while you type.
- Sound effects: 186 sounds and 845 takes from earshot's bank (MIT, Leon Lin). Add one at any moment on an Audio lane; a whip cut brings its own whoosh and a flash brings a hit.
- Type: seven styles for words on screen: split-flap, typewriter, terminal, rubber, rack focus, letter cloud and editorial.
- A stick figure to direct: 9 faces, 6 mouth shapes, 14 poses, walks and runs, talks in time with the words, and holds props.
- Beat-cut reels: drop clips and a song and every cut lands on the beat, with whip and flash transitions.
- Suggestions while you type a note: looks, type styles, fonts, sound effects and music that fit. Tap one and its name goes into your note.
- What's new lives in the editor's header, with a dot when there's something new.
- A builder that needs a newer videobuilder can now raise its own version.
Aperture: Films made of clips
A video can now be a film made of clips: each clip is rendered on its own, and a timeline.json cuts them together, with Audio lanes for music and sound.
- A note can target one clip. The builder sees its neighbours and the film's bible, so the clip still fits the film.
- A new New video screen: give it a name and, if you like, a project, then drop clips and a song, describe a short video, or plan a film in acts.
- The editor has a timeline: trim, dissolve or wipe between clips, J and L cuts, Audio lanes, reorder, and This clip or Whole video for each change.
- Filter looks work on any frame.
- Smaller cards in the library.
- Starter prompts read as quotes.
Covers 0.1.81 to 0.1.87. The release-notes video is attached in 9:16 and 16:9.
Sound effects bank 1
The sound-effects pack for videobuilder's vb.sfx: 186 sound effects (whooshes, hits, clicks, taps, pops, risers, downlifters, sub drops, shimmers, dings, plucks, typing and more), 845 takes at several lengths and notes, as Opus in Ogg, with an index of each take's measured onset, peak and loudness.
python -m videobuilder sfx fetch downloads it and checks its sha256. The release Docker image installs it at /opt/vb-sfx.

The sounds are the sound bank of earshot (https://github.com/Leonxlnx/earshot) by Leon Lin, under the MIT licence, rendered once to audio files at earshot commit 925ebe56a1b755e5d354ab642bb8f344440cfa9c. earshot makes its sounds in code; its "fitted" sounds are recipes measured from CC0 recordings on Freesound, whose recordists are thanked in the pack's CREDITS.md. The pack includes earshot's licence as LICENSE-earshot. Thank you, Leon.
