winstats 0.3.1
Windows 7 SP1 through 11: winstats.exe (x64), winstats-x86.exe (x86) and winstats-arm64.exe (ARM64, Windows 10 and 11 on ARM), or the zip for your system with README and LICENSE. winstats-agent-0.3.1.zip holds the agent for every platform, the Mac one also as winstats-agent.app.
Widget names on hover. Pointing at a widget in the strip names it: the module ("GPU"), and for a remote machine its name first ("node4-rk1: GPU"), with "offline" while it does not answer. The tooltips and message boxes use the current Windows look now.
Remote machine labels. Edit label… in a machine's submenu opens a small dialog for the vertical label next to its widgets: up to three characters, an empty field brings back the default.
Upload first. Network > Upload first (or net_upload_first = true) puts upload above download in the network speed widgets, local and remote; the colours stay with their direction. Contributed by @Drswith in #8, thank you!
winstats-agent is unchanged (0.3.0).
winstats 0.3.0
Windows 7 SP1 through 11: winstats.exe (x64), winstats-x86.exe (x86) and winstats-arm64.exe (ARM64, Windows 10 and 11 on ARM), or the zip for your system with README and LICENSE. winstats-agent-0.3.0.zip holds the agent for every platform, the Mac one also as winstats-agent.app.
Remote popups as full as the local ones. The CPU, memory, disk, GPU, network and battery popups of an agent's machine now fill the rows this PC shows, wherever the system has the number: processes, threads, open files, uptime, context switches and interrupts; caches, base and highest clock, instruction sets, virtualization; where the memory goes, swap and the real commit charge; disk model, bus, serial, firmware, SSD / TRIM, temperature, busy time, latency, IOPS and queue; GPU vendor, device, driver and PCIe link; the network adapter and, through iw, the Wi-Fi network, standard and band; battery power, energy, design capacity and charge cycles. A new Operating system section in the CPU popup names the system ("Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS"), kernel, architecture and agent.
Agent 0.3.0.
- macOS: GPU load, memory, clock and power (IOReport on Apple silicon, SMC temperature on Intel), the battery, fans and the power the whole Mac draws, the clock of each core cluster, Wi-Fi told from Ethernet. It ships as
winstats-agent.app, so Login Items shows it with its name and icon. - Power rails: INA3221 / INA2xx on a Jetson (
VDD_IN,VDD_CPU_GPU_CV,VDD_SOC), the whole Mac from SMC, listed under Power in the CPU popup. - GPU: every GPU found is listed; the processes on the GPU come from NVML and DRM fdinfo; a Jetson run as root adds the memory clock.
- RISC-V: the CPU named from the device tree ("SiFive U74-MC"), thermal zones without duplicates.
- Kernel / user split of the CPU load on Linux and macOS.
- Disks and interfaces that come or go reach winstats without reconnecting.
Sharing between Windows PCs sends all of the above it reads, the CPU temperature too, and the GPU sensors while the other PC looks at a popup.
Fixes: "Vendor / device 0000:0000" no longer shows for GPUs without PCI ids; disk buses such as SCSI, RAID or Virtual are kept; the battery popup of a remote machine carries its name and the offline mark.
Agents of 0.2.x keep working with this winstats, and 0.3.0 agents with older winstats; the new rows simply stay empty.
winstats 0.2.9
Windows 7 SP1 through 11: winstats.exe (x64), winstats-x86.exe (x86) and winstats-arm64.exe (ARM64, Windows 10 and 11 on ARM), or the zip for your system with README and LICENSE. winstats-agent-0.2.9.zip holds the agent for every platform.
Temperature in Fahrenheit. Settings > Temperature units (or temp_unit = "fahrenheit" in the config) shows the CPU, GPU, GPU hot spot and disk temperatures in °F, for local and remote machines alike; the sensors and the agents keep reporting Celsius and the conversion happens at display time. The hot-spot tooltip converts its guidance ranges as temperature differences (5-15 °C becomes 9-27 °F), and the GPU title now carries the °C like every other temperature. Celsius stays the default. Contributed by @ogrrd in #5, thank you!
Download names. The zips are named by architecture now: winstats-0.2.9-amd64.zip, -x86.zip and -arm64.zip (they were -win64, -win32 and -arm64).
winstats-agent is unchanged (0.2.2).
winstats 0.2.8
Windows 7 SP1 through 11: winstats.exe (x64), winstats-x86.exe (x86) and winstats-arm64.exe (ARM64, Windows 10 and 11 on ARM), or the zip for your system with README and LICENSE. winstats-agent-0.2.8.zip holds the agent for every platform.
Windows 7 strip. Windows 7 has no light taskbar, so the strip stays light-on-dark there whatever the theme; the theme setting now picks the popups' look. Before, the Light theme drew dark text and frames on the dark Aero or Basic taskbar.
Colours. The charts in the popups use the module's colour, like the strip and the CPU core bars (they used the accent before). A colour too close to the background, white on a light popup or black on a dark one, is shifted so it stays visible.
GPU popup. Core and memory clock read "current / maximum" (e.g. "1100 / 1366 MHz"), since a GPU drops to its lowest step at idle; the maximum comes from Windows, NVML or the AMD clock tables. The memory clock moved to the always shown rows.
CPU popup. The model name is in full text colour with the temperature on its line, as in the GPU popup.
About. The logo keeps the brand blue (a white accent turned it into a white square), and the window opens in the corner by the taskbar like the popups.
winstats-agent is unchanged (0.2.2).
winstats 0.2.7
Windows 7 SP1 through 11: 64-bit (winstats.exe), 32-bit (winstats-x86.exe) and ARM64 (winstats-arm64.exe, Windows 10 and 11 on ARM); the zips add README and LICENSE.
AMD graphics. Radeon sensors were never found: ADL reports the vendor as the number 1002, not 0x1002. Temperature, clocks, board power, fan and PCIe link now show up, on Windows 7 too (checked on an RX 580). Cards without a junction sensor no longer repeat the edge temperature as hot spot.
Windows 7. The GPU name no longer carries the registry path the AMD driver appends, the CPU clock comes from the power manager where the performance counter is missing, disk serial numbers are decoded from the hex form older storage drivers return, and BIOS placeholders such as "Manufacturer00" are hidden in the memory modules.
CPU popup. The short instruction line names up to four: the two newest vector extensions, virtualization, the 64-bit mode and AES, so older CPUs get a line too (e.g. "SSE4.1 · SSSE3 · VT-x · EM64T"). The cache row lists only the levels the CPU has.
Memory popup. The processes slice of the pie is red instead of the accent colour, which could vanish on the dark popup, and the legend is centred on the pie. The GPU temperature has its unit back.
Menu. Labels, colours, sizes, intervals, theme, transparency and language moved into a Settings submenu.
winstats --diag [file] writes what every metric source returns to a text file, for checking a machine without looking at its screen.
winstats-agent is unchanged (0.2.2); the agent binaries for Linux x86-64 and ARM64, macOS on Intel and Apple Silicon, and Windows x64, x86 and ARM64 are built by the release workflow and attached again.
winstats 0.2.6
Windows 7 SP1 through 11: 64-bit (winstats.exe), 32-bit (winstats-x86.exe) and ARM64 (winstats-arm64.exe, Windows 10 and 11 on ARM); the zips add README and LICENSE.
CPU popup. Temperature (the ACPI thermal zone, no admin rights), and on machines with several physical processors each one under the title with its own load. The everyday rows stay on top (load, system / user, clock, processes / threads, a red performance limit while the CPU is held back); idle, handles, uptime, context switches, interrupts with DPC / ISR time, caches, base / boost clock, the instruction sets (named and ordered as CPU-Z lists them, x86 and ARM64) and virtualization fold under More.
GPU popup. Every adapter is listed under the title; a click switches the popup and the widget to it. Memory in use, clocks, power, fan, PCIe link and hot spot come from the driver (D3DKMT) and the vendor libraries the driver installs (NVML / NVAPI, AMD ADL, Intel IGCL), read on their own thread and only while the popup is open. A process list shows GPU load and memory per process.
GPU on Windows 7. Where the GPU Engine counters are missing (Windows 7 to 10 1703) the load, the chart, the widget and the process list now come from the D3DKMT statistics, as in Process Explorer; NVML is also found in the older drivers' NVSMI folder, and AMD cards get clocks and fan through Overdrive N.
Disks. A click on a disk's name opens its read / write rates, activity, latency, IOPS and queue, SSD / TRIM, serial number (click to copy) and firmware; the temperature is shown where the drive reports it.
Processes. SYS / USER buttons filter system processes and your own in every list, and the lists refresh on their own interval (Process list refresh, 2 s by default) so they stay readable while the charts move.
Units are translated in all languages (e.g. ГБ, Mo, U/min), the titles turn plural with several CPUs, GPUs or disks, and the popups no longer stall: slow driver calls (DXGI on a sleeping Optimus GPU, Wi-Fi, the vendor libraries) moved off the UI thread.
winstats-agent is unchanged (0.2.2); the agent binaries for Linux x86-64 and ARM64, macOS on Intel and Apple Silicon, and Windows x64, x86 and ARM64 are built by the release workflow and attached again.
winstats 0.2.5
Windows 7 SP1 through 11: 64-bit (winstats.exe), 32-bit (winstats-x86.exe) and ARM64 (winstats-arm64.exe, Windows 10 and 11 on ARM); the zips add README and LICENSE.
Network speed in bits. Network > Speed units (or net_unit = "bits" in the config) shows network rates in b/s, Kb/s, Mb/s and Gb/s with decimal prefixes, in the widgets, the popup and the chart scale, for local and remote machines alike. Bytes per second stay the default; disk rates and transferred totals keep byte units. Contributed by @ogrrd in #4, thank you!
Settings menu. The menu opens flush against the taskbar instead of at the pointer, so it never covers the strip, at any display scaling.
Popups. The popup shadow is the light one of the system flyouts on Windows 11 instead of the heavy window shadow; Windows 10 gets a faint shadow of its own.
The README screenshots are retaken at 100% scaling, with a section on vertical taskbars.
winstats-agent is unchanged (0.2.2); the agent binaries for Linux x86-64 and ARM64, macOS on Intel and Apple Silicon, and Windows x64, x86 and ARM64 are built by the release workflow and attached again.
