v3.5.0 β Everyone's Guess, On the Clock
v3.5.0 β Everyone's Guess, On the Clock
This one's all about the moment after the music stops. The reveal now shows you exactly where every player landed and what they scored, and a countdown to the next round runs on every screen β your phone, the host's controls, and the TV. And with the World Cup kicking off next week, there's a playlist ready for the watch party.
Two headline features, a timely playlist, and a round of fixes you'll feel.
π― See where everyone guessed
After each round, tap the β on the reveal screen and you'll see every player as a dot on a year timeline β who guessed what, who nailed it, and the points each one earned. Your own dot wears an orange ring so you can find yourself at a glance, and the top three get medals. It turns the reveal from "here's the answer" into "here's how the whole room did."
β±οΈ A countdown on every screen
When auto-advance is switched on, the seconds ticking down to the next round now show up everywhere they should: on the host's Next button, on the big TV / dashboard view, and on each player's phone. No more staring at a frozen reveal wondering when the next song lands. The TV countdown was @Dtrieb's idea.
π World Cup anthems β just in time
The World Cup kicks off next week, so here's a playlist built for it: world-cup-anthems, 26 official FIFA World Cup songs running from 1962 all the way to 2026. Cue it up for the watch party and see who remembers which anthem belonged to which tournament.
π¬ More new music to go with it
Two more additions while we were at it. iconic-movie-songs brings 72 songs from the movies, complete with a dedicated movie-quiz mode. And the disney-classics playlist grew by 69 tracks β a request from @maxlin1 β with another 22 added to disco-funk-classics.
π οΈ A round of fixes
A few things that should have just worked now do.
Party lights actually fire on game start. If your lights stayed dark when a game began β most common on Govee and other non-Hue setups configured through the wizard β they light up as intended now; the settings are read fresh and sent the moment the game starts. While we were in there, the Light Mode chips (Static / Dynamic / WLED) are selectable again, unreachable lights are hidden from the picker, and the setup text no longer pretends it's Philips Hue only β it works with any Home Assistant light, reworded across all five languages.
Voice announcements speak your language. Play in German, Spanish, French, or Dutch and the announcer follows along instead of reading everything in English, with years and scores spoken as words so neural voices don't swallow the digits.
Screens stay awake. The admin's screen no longer drops the host or players when it sleeps β thanks to @maxlin1 for the report β and passive iOS dashboards and TV displays stay lit too. The round timer and the voice announcement also line up now: the countdown starts when the music starts, not about ten seconds early, which @nixbuongiorno caught. And Beatify pages report their real language to the browser, so Android Chrome stops quietly auto-translating your German UI.
π΅ Catalog care
Broken or wrong streaming links repaired and a handful of release years corrected across world-cup-anthems, disney-classics, anime-openings, the 80s and 90s hits, pure-pop-punk, 2000s pop, one-hit-wonders and more β most caught by the weekly automated playlist health-check, the rest flagged in-game by players.
π§ Under the Hood
- The reveal's per-player view was rebuilt, and the old round-analytics code it replaced has been retired.
- Game-end is hardened: ending a game at the exact moment the reveal countdown expires can no longer kick off a stray next song.
- Added the
num2wordsdependency that powers the spoken numbers above.
π Thank you
To @Dtrieb for the TV countdown, @maxlin1 for the wake-lock report and the Disney request, @nixbuongiorno for catching the timer-and-voice drift, and @Exacute for the nudge that became the "Play On A TV" guide in the README. To everyone who flags a wrong year or a dead link from inside a game β every flag triggers a manual check, and they add up. And to everyone who installs each build and keeps the party going: most of this release is your ideas.
