A setup page. Troparcel opens a page in your browser the first time:
choose a name, then join with an invite or start a room. Later, File ›
Export › Troparcel opens it again to show whether sync works, who is online,
what arrived, the conflicts to settle, and the invite for new members.
Rooms in a folder you already sync (troparcel://folder/<name>): the
page finds Nextcloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Syncthing and others,
or any folder you name.
Project rooms: photos travel with the room, so a newcomer can start from
an empty project.
Private rooms: everything, photos too, is encrypted on your computer
(AES-256-GCM) before it reaches the server or the folder.
Signed authorship: each member signs what they write, so nobody can
remove another member's work for the group or write in their name.
Publish as IIIF: File › Export with a second Troparcel entry writes
manifests and annotations that museum and library viewers read.
An installer:npx github:micahchoo/Troparcel install finds Tropy,
including the Flatpak, and installs Troparcel.
Settings apply without restarting Tropy, and a 10,000-item project starts
syncing 1.5 s after it opens.
A received note ends with "— alice", not a line of internal key; problems
and settings read in plain words.
Found by long soak runs (several Tropys, restarts, outages)
A Tropy could stop reconnecting for good after an outage. An error
raised while reporting the refused connection stopped the retries, and the
Tropy stayed offline without saying so. Nothing that reports the
connection may throw now.
A collaborator's withdrawn note was deleted, not struck through, and the
withdrawal was retried forever. Tropy's note.delete leaves the note in its
state and only takes it off its photo's list; Troparcel waited for it to go.
A note now counts as deleted once its photo or selection no longer lists it.
A restart could publish received transcriptions and selections as your
own. The first push ran before the room had arrived, so a copy received
from bob looked new and was written over bob's entry. Troparcel now waits
for the room before its first push, and never writes over an entry its
records say another member wrote.
Pasting the wrong address in setup (a share link, the setup page's own
address, a server's web page) now says what it is and what to paste.
