Microcharts 2.0 is a full modernization of the library and the first release published under the new microcharts-dotnet organization. The library has been rebuilt on .NET 10, .NET MAUI, and SkiaSharp 3. All chart rendering remains pure, platform-agnostic SkiaSharp drawing, with thin ChartView wrappers per platform.

Highlights

  • .NET 10 + .NET MAUI across the board — Windows, Android, iOS and Mac Catalyst — plus native .NET for iOS and .NET for Android views.
  • SkiaSharp 3.119.4 (latest 3.x).
  • New package layout — a lean cross-platform core plus a MAUI view package, aggregated by a meta-package.
  • Legacy platforms removed — the UWP/WinUI projects were dropped in favour of the MAUI story.
  • A batch of long-standing rendering and threading bug fixes (details below).

The native Microcharts.iOS and Microcharts.Droid views are published to the GitHub Packages feed for now (not yet on nuget.org).

Migration note: In 1.x the Microcharts package was the library. In 2.0 it is a meta-package that brings in Microcharts.Core + Microcharts.Maui. For MAUI apps, remember to call UseMicrocharts() on your MauiAppBuilder.

Bug fixes

  • Transparent backgrounds now clear correctly — charts with a transparent BackgroundColor no longer stack previous frames until the surface is resized (#363, #383).
  • Zero-value bars stay empty — a zero value no longer draws a minimum-height stub (#263), and the bar chart Y-axis no longer overshoots below zero (#304) — #382.
  • Reliable redraws on iOS and Android — chart invalidations are marshalled to the UI thread, fixing intermittent crashes, and dead invalidation code was removed (#245, #381). Also fixes the UIKitThreadAccessException seen during animation on iOS (#373).
  • RadialGaugeChart — gauge size is no longer coupled to LineSize (#138, #380).
  • DonutChart — no longer hangs (infinite loop) with null-valued entries in left/right caption mode (#379).

Housekeeping & CI

  • Migrated the solution to the .slnx format, consolidated to a single Microcharts.slnx.
  • Removed the stale UWP/WinUI projects and the legacy macOS publish workflow.
  • Unified NuGet publishing into a single workflow using OIDC trusted publishing to nuget.org; every build is also published to the GitHub organization feed.
  • Refreshed the README and docs to reflect the current platforms and packaging.
