v0.1.1
Pre-releaseMicrosoft Agent Framework for Go v0.1.1
We're excited to announce v0.1.1 of Microsoft Agent Framework for Go!
This pre-release brings new agent capabilities, improved tool execution and approval workflows, expanded model provider support, and significant reliability improvements across the framework.
It also continues our work to align the Go SDK with Microsoft Agent Framework for .NET and Python.
🚀 Highlights
Enhanced agent capabilities
- Agent mode improvements: Expanded agent mode configuration, including per-tool controls and session management helpers.
- Conversation history management: Added compaction-backed history support and improved retention of conversation state across agent interactions.
- Function invocation middleware: Introduced middleware with call identity, enabling greater control over tool execution, interception, and replacement.
- Tool approvals: Improved approval handling, including configurable bypass behaviour, request/response correlation, and preservation of approval state.
- Todo and loop agents: Improved todo helpers, loop history preservation, and iteration behaviour.
Improved model provider support
This release expands functionality and consistency across supported model providers:
- OpenAI: Improved Responses API integration, reasoning controls, streaming metadata, tool-call finish reasons, and citation handling.
- Microsoft Foundry: Added hosted session stickiness, user identity pass-through, incremental memory search support, and additional integration tests.
- Anthropic: Improved inline image handling, citation metadata, and message formatting.
- Google Gemini: Improved tool-call handling, finish reason mapping, and content filtering behaviour.
- GitHub Copilot: Improved citation annotations, usage metadata, and content filtering reporting.
MCP and tool integration
- Fixed MCP tool discovery pagination.
- Preserved native MCP content, metadata, structured results, and array output schemas.
- Improved resource link handling and embedded resource conversion.
- Expanded tool middleware support to third-party providers.
- Improved cancellation handling to prevent tools from executing after requests are cancelled.
Workflows and interoperability
- Improved workflow execution reliability, including fixes for halt races and cancellation behaviour.
- Enhanced AG-UI event handling for tool calls, usage reporting, and reasoning messages.
- Improved A2A error content handling.
- Improved session state preservation and serialization.
- Continued API alignment with Microsoft Agent Framework for .NET.
🛠️ Reliability and quality improvements
This release also includes a substantial collection of fixes and internal improvements:
- More reliable streaming and response metadata handling.
- Improved tool result compaction and conversation history management.
- Better handling of cancelled agent operations.
- Fixes for shell execution and skill file validation.
- Expanded integration tests and example verification.
- Improved API documentation and consistency checks.
🔄 Cross-language consistency
We're continuing to make the Go SDK consistent with the broader Microsoft Agent Framework ecosystem.
This release includes additional API ports from .NET, a maintained cross-language symbol mapping catalog, and automated audits to help identify API differences and missing functionality.
Our goal is to make it easier for developers to build agent applications in Go while benefiting from familiar concepts and capabilities across the Microsoft Agent Framework SDKs.
