How to use output of DockerV2 task

I am having trouble using the output of the docker BuildAndPush task. I want to use the digest of the pushed image further down the pipeline. Can someone help or point me to some documentation regarding the output?

DS-MS, not really. That issue apparently was closed due to the lack of response from the user.
Basically I want to release the recently built docker image as part of a kubernetes deployment using kubectl set image with the image digest. Perhaps this is a reasonably common use case?

You could achieve it using the DockerV1 task perhaps?

From what I understood, DockerV1 accepts more parameters as inputs for its own commands, however it still does not export the image digest of the docker push command, does it?

My bad. It doesn't explicitly push the image digest value. But it does create an output variable called DockerOutput. You could parse this output and fetch the image digest maybe?

I could do that, but it feels like a workaround. And this would have to be done on all the pipelines that push a docker image and later release it to kubernetes. Isn't the digest of a pushed image a reasonable output candidate?

Perhaps you could resolve to this workaround for now.. I'll engage with my PMs and people who have been a part of the designing of this task and see how to proceed with this. 😄

DS-MS, I even tried, but couldn't build the task. Got a lot of typescript errors.

Are there any other requirements for building the task that I am missing?

Rafael Guimaraes Siqueira (@rafagsiqueira) Here are the steps I follow whenever I do a new setup after a clone

1. run npm install this would bring in all the types as well as packages required for building
2. for building a task node ./make.js build --task DockerV2

If you're seeing typescript errors.. it's most likely cause some .d.ts files aren't pulled in your environment.
Perhaps you could post the error you're seeing I could help you out with the specific problem.

There's only a minNodeVersion requirement: https://github.com/microsoft/azure-pipelines-tasks/blob/master/make.js#L64
which doesn't seem to be the problem here.

DS-MS, that's what I did. And yes, the errors seem all related to d.ts files. What do you mean by the files aren't pulled?
