Support current microsoft/git release tag shapes while preserving stable latest resolution and older Debian package compatibility. Add scenarios for latest, multi-digit VFS revisions, prerelease tags, and legacy packages. Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com>
