+VS Code uses ripgrep (`rg`) for workspace searches. When the **Use Exclude Settings and Ignore Files** toggle is disabled, VS Code runs `rg` with the `--no-ignore` option. This can include large folders such as `node_modules` and increase search time and resource usage.

+If you see many `rg` processes or high CPU usage during search:

+1. Enable the **Use Exclude Settings and Ignore Files** toggle in the Search view.
+2. Verify that the `setting(search.useIgnoreFiles)` setting is set to `true`.
